yes, the "DRS" should not even be in the game except for the noobs who don't know how to fly or how to navigate using steerpoints.

the DRS should be somthing only available in "beginner mode" Then people that have never played a flight game before can get the feel of it without being in full control. On medium or hard difficulty level it should not even be an option, you should be forced to fly sheerly on skill (and cockpit instruments). If it is a crutch that we are required to use to communicate with allied units or even know what the mission objective is, then there is a huge problem. Atleast we know missiles can lock on without the DRS.

(We could always call it ERS for Enhance Rookie System)

yea, I like DRS, just because it helps my pride to know I actually coined a term. Plus, yeah, communications should be going on regardless of what mode you are in, just like in real life.

I hope this game atleast has a cockpit view with working instruments, then I might be able to look past the ridiculous payload amounts these planes can carry.

who says the payloads won't be realistic? I am just commenting on how crappy the ERS system is.

There's a screenshot in a magazine article showing 25 Sidewinders. I'm expecting something between OGF and AC6, but that still sounds like fun to me.

who knows, the screenie might be about a B-52H which can actually carry 25 sidewindersSmile. now, things can change from an article to a game if it indeed does refer to a fighter.

Shows an F-22 on the screen, an external view that lets you see behind, like from 11:00 in reverse.

Also remember, that what we have seen so far is supposively singleplayer, multiplayer might be completely different, or similar, but it might have option restricting unrealistic payloads.

Ah, ripple fire mayhem.

Yup, AC6 for the PC, and the usual console suspects...

I know I really don't post much in these forums, but can I be the first to say that the ERS system should renamed "Extremely Retarded S***".

I hope that as time goes on the developers are more forthcoming about the ERS system and it gets a serious overhaul about its functions.

Has anyone seen the Game Informer preview? It goes into the ERS a little bit.

Well, besides the drubbing on it's name in every picture...

Here are the paragraphs that pertain to gameplay..and I quote Issue 181.

"From a gameplay perspective, HAWX will implement a brand new approach to air combat, where players can toggle an Assistance mode on or off. This isn't a switch between easy and hard. Rather you're expected to regularly toggle the option."

"Assistance On makes the player feel safer thanks to some dedicated anticrash and antistall systems, says lead game designer Thomas Simon. The planes are also equiped with a Enhanced Reality System. This HUD based info is an ever present ally to confront dangerous situations. The computer can calculate an emergency evasion course, and it can also track enemy fighters to predict their their upcoming moves."

"Meanwhile, switching the assistance mode off deactivates the planes safties, allowing for dangerous maneuvers that are often the only way out of dangerous situation, such as a 180 degree turn to lose a persistent missile. The assitance off comes with a revolutionary external camera giving a real perception of what your plane is doing, you can compare it to a fully playable replay camera."

To me, it sounds like when you have it off, you are going to be treated to a Blazing Angels style game.

When it's on, I really don't have clue with the exception that it sounds like a computer will be holding you hand.

This game has me puzzled..
