Alot of times the other team would pick all F-22's, or they would target you from the other side of the map before you even had a chance to deside where you wanted go. At least it was that way in death match, it was stupid, they started you in mid air. That's why I liked playing attack and defend. You had air bases to take off from, defend, and land to rearm. So it bought you some time to take a different route to the enemies base and avoid being sniped by an F-22.

However, I'm guilty of using the Raptor too. It's a badass plane. I'd either use that, or an F-15DJ(had a big payload), fly it at about 300ft off the water, and cruise it all the way to their base with a wingman, and take out their base in pass. That was fun.
If you and your wing man worked to gether you could take out an F-22 pritty easly. You just had to go low to the water when a missle came and start a rooster tail and you could evaid it. But yea if got in range to use your guns most of the kids flying the F-22 couldnt dogfight at all and it was easy pickns. F-15E strike eagle was the only plane I could take out a F-22 with.
Well if it was 2 F-22s and you and your wingman I don't think you would stand a chance.

The X-35 designation was used by the USAF to designate experimental status of an airframe. The X-35 was a pre-manufacturing version of the F-35 series. I love the Raptor, but I know if it is as realistic as it can be, the fact will be simple, no one could touch it. The aircraft has stealth up the ass. if it keeps radar off, uses passive sensors. it could easily launch a pair of AIM-120D's in passive mode up your tail, and you would never see them coming. No radar warning, no missile threat, just a big explosion and a woman's voice saying, FCS failure, left engine fire, right engine fire, radar failure, hydraulics failure, ACS failure... Same with the F-35, all Radar absorbant, not as stealthy as the F-22A, but it can easily fool any enemy radar below the top notch 4th gen planes.:0
I want the B-2 though, no radar emissions, no thermal emissions, a small enough radar cross section so it looks like an insect on the enemy's screens. Only way to kill it is with a fighter within visual range. Skipper Missile... anyone, anyone, no , oh well. That movie was great anyways.

Also, the Raptor has an unconfirmed operational ceiling, gasp. Me thinks its a little above 100,000 feet. I don't think an anti aircraft sam can get that high without the help of a high altitude bomber or something... Also, I don't think any other aircraft could get that high except maybee an X-12(combat version of the SR-71A... yes, it has missiles inside its wings!) or SR-71B(1 lost to space???) so yeah, also, that would give its AIM-210D's a maximum effective range of over 100 miles and turn them into a super effective AIM-54C Pheonix(I refuse to listen to oxford's english dicionary and spell it phoenix...).

Well, the A-12 (not X-12) could carry missiles from what I checked (oh the infamous Wikipedia for starters :P).

And what about the "lost in space" SR-71?
Screenshot (valid link actually) or it didn't happen! :P

it was the X-12 that carrier missiles, not the A-12 man. I am not sure of the source, but I read it in an article somewhere that an SR-71B was lost to space.

Check X-12. It's not one of the Blackbird variants. It's this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f...vair_X-12_launch.JPG .

But still, I was wrong on one thing, the A-12 didn't have missiles. Another variant, the YF-12A though did:

http://www.blackbirds.net/sr71/srspec.html
http://www.aerospaceweb.org/aircraft/recon/sr71/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YF-12

All show that the YF-12A was armed. The first link also tells about missile firings, as well as the wikipedia article.
Anyways, like I had said, it's not the X-12.

As for one lost in space, I didn't see something around, maybe bogus? :/

Anyways, we got quite out of topic...

sorry, you are right, I was thinking of the YF-12

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_YF-12

I thought that the Plane was still in experimental production not prototyping Hence the X I put before it. Since it was in prototyping however, it got designated YF. Sorry about the mixup.

Also, technically the YF-12 wasn't an SR-71 varient, it was an A-12 varient. The SR-71 is a completely different airframe based off of the A-12 Oxcart.
