My biggest concern with arcade like flight simulators is that you have an absurd amount of ammo(for example, in Ace Combat 4 you where able to carry over 50 missiles with a A-10)That is very unrealistic and throws people that love simulations for a realistic ammo payloads off and leaves some players not wanting to play the game. Only game I have seen on the Playstation 2 is Lethal Skies 2 and they did their best to keep ammo simulated, only thing that was missing was unguided bombs, JADAMs, and limited machine gun ammo.
If you want to put in simulated ammo and keep the game going for beginners and expert players have a mode or option allowing players to play with this feature. Also make this option for online games as well and notifications telling players that the game is playing with Arcade ammo or Simulated ammo. If players choose Simulated ammo, it would limit them only to what players have on the their aircraft of their choosing(for example, the f-15 can carry up to 6-8 missiles, that is all the player can carry until that player falls back to Landing Zone or Rearming Area and call in and land his/her aircraft on a aircraft carrier or a land air base. The player must go back to these zones to rearm, but with in these zones the player can not engage or be engaged while taking flight in this area, this stops AI or online players taking advantage on a aircraft that is taking off or landing in the rearm zone. But make sure these zones are not to far from the fire fight and allowing players to get back into action quick, also allow this to be an option that can be turned on or off on online game play).
If a player decides to play with arcade ammo, it will give the player more ammo than the aircraft would have if they played Simulated. This gives other players that Arcade feel instead of an Arcade only feel that would throw off a bunch of players that fly simulators on their PC.
If you take interest in this idea I strongly think this would get more people to take an interest in your game.
Very good thought... with arcade style ammo online it would really need servers for just arcade or sim style gameplay. that way sim people can be happy knowing they won't have 10+ sidewinders on their tail from one aircraft.
yes ammo and also fuel. It would be great for you to head back to base re-fuel and gain ammo and head back into the fight. maybe players might have to defend there base from attack whilst there team mates re-fuel and gain ammo
They should take an example from Eagle Studios Lock on and Falcon 4.0 Allied Force, but by judging from the trailer, the rocket powered GBU is very unrealistic..so I wouldn't be surprised if Ubi made it possible to shoot down a Mig-29PVO with spray and pray lol. corpse256 maybe you could develop a mod for the game that makes it more realistic
Just to put in perspective how Ubisoft does things, go to hawxgame.com, go to gameinfo -> Aircraft and select F-22. It lists its speed as Highly Supersonic. Seriously...What??? Highly Supersonic lol??
Also go to the f-16 page, it says ability to LOITER, the f-16 is by no means a loiter aircraft, that duty if for strategic bombers like the B-52. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ubi portrayed the F-15E as a single seat strike fighter
thanks for the input guys, and Cameron_962 i really like your idea, I've been working on a game of my own, not an officially licensed game designer but hope to become one someday.
jonathanli sounds like a plan, would be a good idea if I just get my hands into some moding and code I'd be glad to make one for ya. I do have some bases of understanding moding but still need more experience.

They say that because technically the F-22's true top speed is classified (just like its actual radar cross section) sure we can be told that it can get to mach 2.2 but whether or not mach 2.2 is the fastest or if the f-22 can go faster is still classified - that's what highly supersonic means lol

Yeah, I got a kick out of that F-16 "ability" as well. Loiter? Yeah, maybe in a Tomcat or an Eagle. Warthog? Hell yeah! Falcon? No.
Ubi, try doing a little research. Then, we don't have to cringe at everything that you guys post.
for the vids were we see 50+ missiles might just be a temporary code so the people playing get what they can from the game think about it i would be ****ed if i had to do a preview but always ran out of ammo it would be very anoying i think its for that reason so it will be simulated ammo
