There's the one where you go to ebay and get yourself a 60gig PS3, then there is Ace Combat 4, an excellent title. Also, umm Ace Combat 5, with some interesting and unique missions.

PS3 is out of the question, it took me months to get HAWX. besides i dont have an HDTV to run it on. i was asking about PC games the other games arent for the PC - ace combat is an xbox thing. --- --- --- --- "...for in such dangerous things as War, the errors proceeding from a sense of benevolence are the worst."-Carl Phillip Von Clausewitz, Vom Kriege |

I have the same question.
(AC...5 > PS2 AC6 > XBox PC > The only decent one I know is hawx.) |
||||
|
To my knowledge, nope. There aren't many games in the 'modern flight action' genre. The reason that I told you to get a 60gig PS3 is because it will run Hawx, and every AC game made, since the original Air Combat.
But really, since you have Hawx on the PC, any old PS2 would do. There has to be a few laying around, if you don't have one already. For the Ps2, AC4 is superbly fun, AC5 has killer missions, ans ACZero has a giant number of named aces. They are all great games, no online support, just awesome missions. Smoke, Ldogg |

Crimson Skies (PC) was one heck of a game from Microsoft. If you don't want to cheat, you can try using TOP. You can easily get 10000 points per hour. Yet, spawn raping a friend over and over again with the A-10 on realistic with gun upgrade is the way to go for 35000+ exp in a 15min round. (Bring the weapon layout with rockets while you are at it...) -- H.A.W.X. - Plane Finder (Ubisoft's mirror) Find a plane with the features and weapon packs you want. |

Using the TOP is fun every now and then. Yeah, it is also an excellent way to gain exp quickly.
My recommendation is to play in a normal ordinance, with JOINT strike only. If you can find that, or just set it up, it is a nice way not to have to deal with everyone's all aspects, and it takes 8, I think, missiles to bring down any normal fighter. EDIT: I don't think my old English teachers would be pleased with my paragraph long sentences. Smoke, Ldogg |

I agree, TOP is fun every once in a while, and I prefer to use it to get the points in TDM to level up, but I usually get impatient not shooting at anything, so instead of using TOP all the time I go back to JS or MTAA in order to help the team win. I find it a little annoying to use TOP and still the team gets behind until I switch back to doing the shooting for them.

back on topic:
I do agree that progress is very slow. Some of us just don't have the time to grind to level 40. Don't tell me to get a trainer cause I play on the 360. _______ |

Try LockOn: Flaming Cliffs, it's really great, if a bit old. (You'll still need MS Windows to run it though). |
||||
|
On the PS3, without having someone to cheat and level up, I find I can get 10000 points/hour in a jammed Red Eagle session, but my PS3 Hawx just locks up from time to time for whatever reason (requires power of and restart) I had 40000 points yesterday after 3.5 hours of playing but lost it all when the machine hung. NEVER had my XBOX 360 hang on any game or PS3 hang on any other game, so it must be a HAWX programming bug

Hell, I've only had the game for a couple weeks, and I find what is slowing me down from getting higher levelwise is one mission I am stuck on. I suspect that once I het past this mission, I should do better. Also, when I finally get the controller I want, I should probably advance faster. (mainly due to the fact I'll play more because it will be that much more fun with the new stick)
To those who wish to complain, maybe they should try another game. Maybe Pac-Man. If I find something that is irking me and making my life more difficult in this game, it just drives me to try harder until I get past what is troubling me. Thats how I play BE 2142 and Combat Arms also. I keep at it till I get better. (at least when I find the time to play) |

i kinda like the slow progression - i have to earn that high rank, instead of abusing game mechanics to grind as much XP from each kill.
it also makes the games 'fun' last longer if you dont rush towards the finish line. sometimes the fun isnt in the achievement, its in the path you took to get there. |

Well said Elysian. If your worrying about rushing to get there, you'll never enjoy the experience.

It's just as much fun to race to get to the finish in as short an amount of time as possible. 8000-10000 points/hour in campaign mode without having to do the TDM level up XP method is rather hard to do as everyone else is racing for the kills. Just got to level 39 today and now I've got access to the Eurofighter 60 MTAA 20 FFB pack. This is probably another one of those UBI soft bugs as the MTAA JS pack only has 40 MTAA (just like the Su32 and Su34 have 70 RG and 20 FFB -- these should have been 20 RG and 70 FFB, but I'm not complaining

You know, As much fun as I have on these forums, I think I should take a break. Dinner is not gonna cook its self, and I still have my Japanese (or Russian) to learn. Plus, I think I have figured out why I have been having issues with Typhoon. I'll check back in a little while.
Hasta! |
