First I just want to say that this is a good game, however it does lack minor detail like the ability to land and take off.

The bing problem with this game is onlint progression is too slow. You only get like 700 xp a game and it takes a ton of xp to advance to level 40, were all the good stuff. Inorder to have a good online game you need to find a way to fix this. I have had this game for like half a year and I am only level 30. Who agrees?

there is a way to unlock the planes. you wont get everything, but you'll get most of it. do a search on google for HAWX unlocks, or something like that. i cant remember where i found my unlock info but i do know i was lvl 1 flying any plane i wanted.
i dont know if this works for multiplayer because i've not played it yet(just got the game and want to learn the interface well before i get my arse kicked in 'public' Big Grin).

progression is slow, i agree, but nothing will be done about it - unless you take the initiative yourself.

It does.

Yes the progression is slow, even while playing online.

Yes, the progression is too slow on XBox and PS3. The downloads are for PC versions of HAWX which doesn't help those of us on an XBox 360 or PS3.

Off-line campaign sessions average 500 XP after you complete the entire campaign in Elite mode. The best you can do is about 1100 XP in Red Eagle on Hard Mode after 15 minutes to complete the session, but you can get 800 of those in the 1st 6 minutes. So if you want to get lots of XP in the shortest amount of time, the best thing to do is to play the 1st part of Red Eagle and quit just as the Cargo plane section starts. Then repeat playing the 1st 6 minutes over and over ad nauseum. No other campaign session starts as quickly and nets as many points in the first 6 minutes of play. Repeating the above can get you about 6000-8000 points per hour.

Better trick is to play Red Eagle in Campaign mode using a fighter with 52 MTAA in hard mode (i.e. Su-37, F16C, F15C, Mig29 ...). When you get to the Cargo plane sessions, let the Cargo planes drop tanks, kill only the tanks that enter the green circle. When the green support fighters show up, they get overwhelmed, make 1 pass thru the combat area and then freeze at the perimeters. The game is now stuck on infinite play in which it will continually respawn fighters to shoot down. The only trick is someone else must join you somewhere along the session so you can repeated crash and respawn with a fresh set of 52 MTAA to continue shooting, otherwise you are stuck with guns only. I did a 3.25 hour session with 1700 kills and 35000 points and leveled up between 37 to 38 after just doing this for 5 days, 3-6 hours/day ... of course I had to figure the most efficient way to net 65 to 80 XP per salvo to get the 10000 points/hour.

You can try TDM, but even if you are good, it is pretty hard to get 10000 points/hour. Best I could do was 5000 points/hour without counting up points from challenges completed.

If you play through the campaign in elite mode, you should be up to level 27 by the end. Completing the bulk of the campaign and TDM challenges gets you up to level 35 within a couple of weeks.

The last thing to try is finding someone who will mutually help with leveling up in TDM ... i.e. both agree to allow the other to continually shoot the other down unopposed while running a private session so no one else interferes. I haven't done this yet, but am curious to see how rapidly one can generate XP compared to the Red Eagle trick

It's certainly slow on the later levels but "too slow" is subjective. On one hand it takes awhile to level on the other hand you get to play a fun game more. Big Grin

dementor,

I've boosted a handful of times on multiplayer. The chain is what gets it up there. Each kill ends up being worth thousands. One 15 minute chain of kills can produce around 36,000 experience. Boosting is cheating yeah, but that's why I did not do so until I was already at level 35. It has a much smaller impact with the higher levels logically since they have larger gaps of needed exp to level up.

I still need over 100,000 to get to level 39, then an insane amount to get to 40. AS long as AC7 doesn't come out for the PS3 within the next two or three years, the Su-47 is as good as mine! LOL.

The game is not that fun. It is really annoying with the stuffy server, constant way team members take your kill, and constant repetition

Clearly fun is subjective too. Big Grin

Also, if it was "your kill" you would have made the kill instead of your team mate.

In of itself the completion of a mission, one is deprived of reaping experience. Maybe if they fixed that, the missions might have more of a rewarding feeling. I rarely do any missions anymore, but I never ever do the ones that don't have a lot of enemies to shoot down. Level 40, so so far away yet.

And about the team mate taking your kill. Play in hardcore matches, most missiles will one hit kill. JOINT strike, hehe, won't, but you can fire two fast enough where if one hits, the other will as well. Unless you cannot hit your opponents and make your missiles do it for you, then it will take four.

racing for the kill is what makes it fun! how fast can you kill them...can you beat your teammates to every kill and empty a server because you're ****ing everyone off? Big Grin

now i'm daydreaming(nightdreaming?) about interplay's old Descent IPX multiplayer servers. i think thats why i like HAWX...the frantic flying and killing reminds me of the good ol' days of 4MB voodoo graphics.

personally, i think hawx is a blast even in singleplayer and i make sure i get in at least a short mission's worth of flying time every day. to each their own...but it makes me wonder why you took the time to sign up or post at all - i never would've taken the time, myself, if the game really sucked. Smile

Hawx is like many many of my exgirlfriends; the more time we spent together, the more I realized that there's just better out there.
