The lattest issue of GameInformer has a whole article describing some new features. There's a cool missile evasion camera to show where the missile is to know how to act. It also says ERS and assistance mode will be toggled frequently. An example they used was that if there is a persistent missile locked on you might have to turn off ERS to manuever a 180 degree turn. Overall I think the article is good. And for people wondering, you play as a former US pilot now flying for a very strong PMC.
BTW, the press release was WRONG! I was right! Suck it! AFTER GRAW 2 so after 2014 not in 2012. Biahhh! |

My understanding is it's between GRAW2 and EndWar. The EndWar book took place sometime just after 2020, with a major terrorist organization making trouble, and with another very large but unknown group making itself known towards the end. That leaves plenty of room for this to take place and for there to be other factions.

the hell with a missle evasion camera. that's just stupid. unless the missle shows up on my radar(not on screen, but inside the cockpit), I don't want a missle evasion camera.
You say the article talks about ERS and novice features will be toggled frequently.... that had better be by choice. I'll be damned if the game does it automatically without an option to disable all that noob stuff. I'm old school, I don't need all those bells and whistles to dogfight and evade missles in a game. Only noobs need those kinds of things in a fighter jet game. |

I think this whole "Missile Evasion Camera" might tie in with another post I made regarding smoke trails from missiles. The point is that this "noob" feature would be handy as a camera view in your helmet sight, IF they remove the smoke trail from the missiles as some have hoped for. Others have posted that a smoke trail is becoming more and more of an anachronism as tech develops. Well if we want a realistic game with missiles with no smoke, how will we be able to find them so that we can avoid them? Well perhaps with the "Missile Evasion Camera", which is why I like the idea of it. It will be high tech and still enable you to show your NON-noob skills by outflying that missile coming at you. ----In your application of military force, be just, fair, precise, but to conquer your enemies' will, heart and mind, seek to improve his lot- atacms----- |

can this missile camera view also be turned off suz I think I'll jsut fly around and evade missiles by hearing missile alert and blink on radar. I don't need no fancy cameras.I'm an Ace COmbat and Lock On veteran! I'll turn all these options off

yeah the game informer article doesnt really give much info. the way its written, it makes me wonder if i have the ability to choose whether or not certain "support", or "assist" features can be toggled off and on individualy, or if they are all kind of wrapped up into one assist mode that is just either on or off. They mention in the article that it is a big part of the gameplay, and everyone will be toggling in and out of assist mode pretty often. i think it even says one of the assist features, is that it can take evasive action on its own right?
I just hope we get a regular radar scope that picks up and indicates locations and elevations of enemy aircraft and missiles, and i hope it isnt somehow integrated with the whole assist mode thing. I think most of us hear the word assist, and we instantly want it turned off. im sure there are a few of us that have it in the back of our minds, "eh, im not gonna use any assist." i just hope the plane is fully functional without the assist mode on. that means full weapons capability, full counter measures capability, all instruments must be working, radar, altimeter, etc. without assist you get more control over the aircraft right? yeah, and i never want to be forced into 3rd person view it totally takes away from the immersion factor. |

I'm ok with this "missle evasion camera" as long as it is viewed as a side screen inside the helmet, or on the instrument panel. I don't want it to be a view that we can switch to, kind of like holding the L trigger on Blazing Angels, where you can see the missle coming at you from a 3rd person view. Maybe I'm misunderstanding exactly what this "MEC" view is, but I would definately much rather it be a little side cam view, like the cross com screen in GRAW. I'm an old school gamer, though I don't mind having cool technological advances in game, but I don't like stuff like in blazing angels where you could down a button and automatically be fixed on a target while you maneuver to get a clear shot. |

I'm with you on that. I also hope that each different feature can be manually toggled on/off by our choice. I don't want it to all be lumped into one whole package, where you turn it off and it disables all features. AC6 had where you could disable the HUD, however, it disabled everything but what you saw inside the cockpit. What sucked about that, was that I wanted to just disable the HUD view displayed in the helmet, but I still wanted the information to show up in the cockpit HUD, you know that little glass sticking out the top of the instrument panel(dont remember exactly what that glass is called, I guess its just called the HUD.) Anyways, OGF allowed us to select the view with the information just showing up inside that glass, and not in the helmet. So if you looked to the right at a target, you wouldnt get that little box around it, unless you lined up you plane so the target was visible through the cockpit HUD. That was one of the biggest turn offs in AC6, besides the magical missles of course. |
