I know IL2 has already been released on the PC, but I for one would certainly pay for the new graphics engine. There are quite a few flight sims I'd love to see remade with new graphics engines to take advantage of modern hardware.

Well, it's not that boring, since you are also targeted by other missiles/radars/etc. So you must be on your toes the whole time.

When dogfighting though, although I'm a jet fan, there has been no better feeling on finally outmaneuvering an enemy and clipping his wing or shooting him dead in his cockpit or damage his plane enough so he can't turn fast, etc. So many ways for someone to die. (that goes for you too though)

If they reproduce that nicely in Birds of Prey, then you'll probably love it.

ive tried flight sims, and in all honesty if i ant a game with a 2000 page manual and
excessive realism ill join the airforce.

i play games to relax and chill out and ace combat style arcade flyers suit me fine

Amen. I like to kick back with some beverages, fly around and blow unholy hell out of the enemy. When I want realism, I fire up FSX and take a 747 for a spin. I can even jump in a completely realistic Kenmore Air floatplane from the Harbour Air terminal 10 blocks from my house (FSX geography mods), take a night flight to Seattle and land in the harbor there. If I want lasers, I fire up Freespace 2. It's released as source code now and works like tickety boo, even in Vista. http://www.fsoinstaller.com/ has the details.

THERE ARE modern sims!!!!!

over G fighters is a pure modern flight simulation game i reccomend getting it.

Il2 an Pacific Fighters are both great sims to play as for the graphics ya they ay unrealistic but other than that is in my belief, That is still two of the best out there for realistic settings as in black outs an an stalling plane managent this seperates the arcade fans from the real flyers. best part of it if you can't land your plane or take off from aircraft carriers or on land, it won't matter if you knock all the enmy fights out of the sky an once again if you can't use your guns to shoot your not going to get very far in the sim. Yes new graphic engine would be a boon but still great sims both no matter how ya slice it . Planes are good texture wise just the maps need tweeking to be more realistic.
