Big Grin I'm glad to hear that. To be honest, it's starting to concern me how much I like the face. Shady

I'm very excited to see how this project turns out.

Ready for coloring now Big Grin

Deviantart

I can't wait to color this. His name is Micah Miller, but his nickname is "Bullseye", because he's a sharp shooter. Sarai (or Whisper) is better known for her stealth and quietness.

I've got another character I hope to draw up soon as ell. I'm excited about this comic.

Alright guys, I'm starting the flat colors, but need some advice. I've got three combination that I like and am choosing from, but more input would be nice.

Which color scheme should I use?

Or if you have other suggestions, like mixing two that I have, or something completely different, please let me know. Thanks!

I'd recommend you go for the second one, simply because it's the most different from your other character. They're in a team, so obviously they have different areas of expertise so as to compliment each other. Different specialities imply different interests and different backgrounds, which in turn imply at least somewhat of a difference in personalities (the latter being very important to keep the story interesting). Colour is an easy way to allude to all these differences right from the start.

There are a few anatomical issues, but nothing major, really. I doubt people who aren't actively working with the human anatomy on a regular basis would notice them. Figure drawing classes would really help you eliminate those though, so that might be something worth looking into if you have the time and want to turn this into more than a hobby. Drawing poses from life really helps you put a lot more realism into your art, and it can teach you a great deal about foreshortening, lighting, etc... all things that'll make a huge difference in the end. In the words of the extremely talented Carl Dobsky: 'The difference between good and great is so subtle.'

One last thing I'd add is that the cropping of the image is a bit weird, but I'm assuming that's just temporary. I know full well that feet aren't the easiest part of a drawing, nor the most interesting, but they are a very important part of any character. The viewer needs to see that the character's in balance, that (s)he won't just get blown over by the slightest gust of wind. Showing only part of the figure can be just fine, but cutting a drawing off mid-shin seems a bit weird.

Just few small things that sprang to mind - up to you to decide what to do with them, obviously.

Thanks for the input, I'm having a very hard time choosing the colors. I'm still not sure what I'm gonna go with. Blush

My personal favorite is A, I think it's more warm and attractive, but like mentioned before, it's Sarai's color palette, and I don't want them to look too much alike. B is nice as well, and most importantly, unique; however, being a spy, is having such light hair and eyes going to stand out too much? And again, C has a mysterious and captivating look, but is that color scheme a little too cliche and overdone?

I'm confused. Razz

@FCY-JMD-WLKY.

Thanks for all the input, that is very helpful. Big Grin I definitely could benefit from doing more figure drawings, I noticed that with this latest piece. I'm so used to drawing women, and being that I am a woman, they're so much easier for me to draw. I didn't realize how little I knew about drawing male anatomy until I started this piece. So that's some very good advice on your part. Smile

Also, the cropping is permanent, but I never drew the feet because it really zooms the picture out. Sounds kind of funny, but as you can see with my drawing before, I don't have a fear of feet (the boots were my favorite part, actually Razz), but the drawing looks so "far away", the emphasis on Sarai was not her face, more so the action and what might be going on. Which is definitely cool, but I'll do more of that in the comic itself. For the character concepts, I wanted to put more emphasis on the character itself, and in this drawing, I wanted the face to be the focal point.

But like you said, cropping mid shin is weird, I'll probably shorten it more to find a better balance.

You're awesome, though. Thanks for all the advice, I feel that I'll really benefit from it. Smile

Man, this is hard. Like I said before, A is my favorite combo, but he looks so much like Sarai with those colors. I've narrowed it down, either I'm going to go with B, because it's so unique and different for comics, or I'm going to go with A, but make Micah and Sarai brother/ sister or cousins, or somehow related. LOL! Razz You're funny. But yeah, B looks good, I just don't want him to look too Ken dollish.

I'm either gonna go with A, B, or this:

Thumbs Up +1 to that! I agree that that one is the best one. I was reading all the new posts thinking somebody should suggest B with brown hair instead of blonde. Razz

I dunno. I actually favor B. Like FCY said, it adds variety and he doesn't have the same hair color or eyes as the lead female character. Razz

Either one you choose, he'll still look tight. lol
