LoL I didn't even know the Silent Hills were available for PC or I would have mentioned those, too. I am such a console gamer... Tongue

Most of the games I wanted to recommend are already mentioned. I'll also add both Max Payne games, though its a bit dated now. Some of the side quests of Oblivion are dark too.

Whodunnit
Accidents Happen
The one where you stick the poison in the warlord's chest

Oh and Turning A Blind Eye from the Thieves Guild is pretty dark too.

Yeah, Oblivion's got a great (often dark) atmosphere too.
