Hi everyone
I guess that by the title you guys know what this thread is about. What are your thoughts? I like the game a bit, not many glitches for me. Co-op is fun, the story line is kinda lame but some of the weapons are sweet. Now, this is where I get ticked off. It's region locked. I filed a complaint with the BBB against Electronic Arts, and I'm mailing out a letter tomorrow. I was super angry when I found out, I was so angry that it made the game less fun. I believe that what they are doing when they region lock is changing a service that I pay $50 a year for in a way I did not agree to nor was I even informed of. I honestly think this is a huge deal and a bad marketing move. Nothing on the box for the game says it's region locked. If they say region lock is because of lag, I call B.S. I pay for the XBox Live service, I make the calls on if I'm willing to handle the lag that comes with playing in a game with someone across the world from me. I greatly encourage other people to file a complaint and/or write a letter about this, and maybe if it becomes a big enough deal, EA will be forced to change it. I have all the information for filing a complaint with the BBB (online) and writing EA a letter (specific format for the letter and address) if anyone is willing to help out. I'm boycotting EA games by not buying another one. Mirrors Edge, This message has been edited. Last edited by: MadamTampini, |

I hope Mass Effect 2 isnt ruined by EA. This game is like the first EA game Ive bought in years and I think it will probably be the last I dont like EA there a bad company and each time they announce new IPs all they do is buying some of the competition because they are too lazy to make games of their own.

Last good EA's game I played was NFSU.

What does region locked mean exactly?

EA reminds me of UBISOFT.

Region lock means that you are only permitted to play online against/with people in the area that the company permits, which pretty much ruins the point of XBL, and I'm definitely not going to pay $50 a year for this bull crap. |

The thing I find odd is the lack of any apparent organisation in terms of the traffic disruption. It doesnt take a genius to realise it was going to cause that kind of reaction yet there wasnt any traffic plan set up to ensure it didnt cause problems for those using the route or living there, or at least it doesnt appear there was given the disruption took place anyway.
I'm curious if that kind of event expected to cause traffic disruption can be organised without permission from the local council to be honest, if it can it makes you wonder why |

I'm curious to see what's going to happen about Mercs 2 in general. Woosy said her work just sent back 15 copies and she got rid of hers. I just mailed off my letter to EA today and I already filed a complaint against them. Only time will tell I guess.

Yes and no, depends 'where' the type of event or publicity stunt is done you need permission for protests, events not so much. Something like what EA did obviously needed planning but didn't, so had to be shut down as it was affecting residents in a bad way. Like you've said if they had good planning for traffic which anyone can get advice from by the Police they could of called and planned with them months before and it could of gone ahead just fine, because traffic could of been diverted etc... Remember when Ubisoft did a Public Stunt back in 2005 before the release of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory? they had free runners jumping around Birmingham City along with 4-5 guys dressed in black army gear with Splinter Cell goggles with backpacks, in which it had a screen and a controller for the xbox so you could play the game before anyone else. That caused chaos too, guys flipping around everywhere, but it's a city town center... no real permission is needed for something like that. As for Mercenaries 2 goes I would avoid the game EA are crooks, I've just found out that the English booklet while it tells you that it is region locked, the american manual does not say that at all which is very shady, even worse you don't know about it until you open the box. I cannot play the game anymore anyways it is broken a retail Beta if you will, when I had to re-do a mission for the 10th time because a guy I must capture kills himself over and over I simply had enough. My work sent back all their copies as far as my Boss is concerned the game is very broken and shouldn't of been released. I was looking forward to Mirrors Edge, Dead Space, and recently Left 4 Dead, but EA 'publish' those titles, I'm not sure if I will buy another game published by EA, quality control doesn't seem to get a consideration. Only game I got to look foreward to now is Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway. |

mercenaries 2 doesnt live up to the hype, plain and simple. IT was supposed to be this big amazing game but it turns out to be pretty mediocre....thank God i rented it
