When we die, we instantly enter another universe in which everything is the same except we're alive.
Even to the extent that a line of possible events is avoided to allow a person to live.
E.g. A to a person's conscious lying on their death bed, something happens that allows them to get spontaneously better, hence while they die in their current universe, they feel they've never passed and merely got better.
Could be the same with old age, maybe eventually the consciousness ends up in a universe where a 'cure' is found for old age etc.
I've been almost killed dozens of times and thought about this very question.

Some likely probabilities could be preservation, or institutionalization in this case. Spontanious algorithmic simulation would forcast ourselves current state of conscience continuation. IF this were to be practical, it would serve vary many purposes. Have you ever heard of the "eye of the beholder"??
Several possibilities would intervene for what kind of sake?: Who are you? do you really care? have you been lied to and beleive every impressionable veiw point? Are you selfish? Are you capable of learning or just copying everything that you can? What purpose can you serve? What would a robot do? What makes you biological? What makes you an animal?

Have you seen a movie titled "The One"? it borderlines this theory with many spunks.
What we call the Universe has many crumbs everywhere.

Take the time to think about it unless you are unsheerlessly copying for a sad excuse to manipulate or prey. But most of all, learn the true meaning of being careful and not just physically, but be careful mentally because what you believe is exactly what you believe.
