Alternative Rock would be my favorite. I'll listen to anything that isn't hip-hop or country, though.

My FAVORITES are most forms of metal; although I like grundge and (very little, but some nonetheless) rap.

I'm starting to like more of the Avante-Garde/Experimental and Crossover music. To me, any artist that can incorporate elements of many genres into their style is an awesome musician. Thumbs Up

I actually have only just recently heard of him. He's pretty good, albeit kinda creepy. I've only heard him do covers though; does he have his own band? (PS Don't talk to Soulfire about Buckethead....if you wanna live Indifferent )

I've been rocking for 40 years and it includes metal and I see no reason to stop.

I listen to a lot of alternative rock and I can't stand hip-hop either, but I was wondering: have you tried listening to some alt. country? Some of my favourite bands fall into that category; Uncle Tupelo, Old 97's, Jayhawks etc.

The emphasis is just as much on rock as it is country. UT, for instance, was as heavily influenced by bands like Black Flag, Hüsker Dü, Dinosaur Jr and The Replacements as they were The Carter Family, The Louvin Brothers and Gram Parsons. Some of the best music of the 90's, in my opinion, came out of this type of music.

Not many people know who Gram Parsons is.

Yes that's true, far too few anyway. He was fairly obscure in his (short) lifetime, but he's been a very important inspiration to a lot of artists since. I love his music and keep trying to turn other people on to it. I'd say I'm successful most of the time, once they hear his voice and some of the great songs he did either by himself or with the likes of Emmylou Harris, The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers.

Alternative Country? I'm thinking I won't like it, but I'll check into it sometime next week after my finals.
