For the last year or so, I've been working on an authentic looking Sam Fisher costume. I've worn it to several conventions, but now I'm getting ready to break it out again for Halloween. If anyone else is trying to make one, I've got lots of tips to help out too. Tell me what yall think:

You're obsessed, that's what I think.

OMG! That's so great! Awesome!
That's a sure way to get the grand prize at the Fisherists costume party! |

What does he get? A night with all the ladies in a club?

Actually, the shirt is black, just a different shade. I used UnderArmor cause it was the closest and cheapest thing next to a real wetsuit.

Actually, I do have an OPSAT. Although i couldn't get it to light up, i have a wrist mounted badge holder, which can accomidate a screenshot of the pause menu from the first game. Or, I can use it to keep my badge for a convention in a non-distracting location. I'll try to get some pictures of that if I can.

Can you tell me how you made the goggles, please?

You should take the picture in more of a splinter cellish environment. It would make it look better.

How I made the goggles? I'm glad you asked...
It was quite a difficult piece to construct. Step1: Make a mold out of various scrap materials: I carved out a block of soft wood to get the angles on the sides, and to fit the curve of my head. I found some PVC connectors that looked about right for the lenses, and stuck them on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/NeoXai/works%20progress/DSCF0740.jpg Step2: Vaccumforming the plastic: It sounds harder than it is. Basically, you want so secure some sheet plastic, melt it, and then use a Shop-vac or something to pull it down over your mold. It's pretty simple to build a box out of 2x4's connect the vaccum hose to the inside, and put some holes on top. Foam helps make a good seal around the edges. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/NeoXai/works%20progress/DSCF0743.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/NeoXai/works%20progress/DSCF0745.jpg For more information about the process, check out http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/stormtrooper/ and look at vacuumforming Step3: Fancying it up: This was just a matter of adding the LEDs and battery pack, on/off switch, padding, and straps. Try to get wide-angle one's if you can, and as bright as possible, cause otherwise people can't tell that they're on. And it looks even more killer in the dark. |
