About to throw this stick in the garbage ---but before I do I thought maybe I could get some help here.

I have my HUD color assigned to the 2 way switch on the throttle handle. And it works ok. But in a mission after I get my HUD color set like I want it then anytime I click on the pinkie switch the color changes. Anytime I change from M1 to M2 or M3 mode the color changes also.

From time to time several other stick buttons also change the HUD color. None of these buttons fail to do their assignment --but they all volunteer to change the HUD color if they take a notion.

Some of the buttons also put me into "altitude Hold" submode along with the color changes --- not very often but occasionally.

This is a new situation for my stick ---- it has only started this lately.

I do not seem to be able to control this and it is getting the best of me.

h= alt hold
ctrl+h = change HUD

Somehow- you are pressing ctrl without realizing it.

Finally solved it.

With the HUD keyed to Control H that would cause my altitude hold key (H) to engage when I changed HUD colors. For a long time I would be flying and all of a sudden with a HUD color change My pitch control would lock up.

I finally realized what was happening. That is a crazy thing and should not have been happening.

Anyway to make a long story short I experimented with several changes and combination of changes between these two functions.

When I took Control H away from the color assignment it messed everything up on my computer. (1) it caused numerous other stick buttons to not only function as they were assigned but change the HUD color also. (2) it caused all my text programs (Microsoft Word, Notepad and any required field that included the use of text) to print the letter H repeatedly --and fill up a page full of them---like a stuck key.

The only way I could stop these "H"s from printing was to key my trigger on my stick.

This thing literally took over my computer even though the sim was shut down and the stick profiler also.

I reassigned control H to the HUD color function and everything cleared up.

But I still have to assign something other than H to the altitude hold function to be able to fly without problems.

Damndest thing I ever saw.

I don't see why you'd have to change defult button assignments. SOunds like you need to work on your profile's organization.

I think changing my default settings was self explanatory ---- I had conflicting responses from the two functions.

the three-way switches are nasty little things to get working properly. I use mine for settings that have a two-state toggle. it's been a while since i've flown, but if i remember right my three-way is either cannon fire rate or landing gear depending on the mode select. as i understand it, the stick sends a CONSTANT signal for whatever keypress for each position in the switch, so what i do is assign the middle position to the function with the two others unassigned. press all the way through, and it becomes just like a toggle switch. only thing is you have to be careful not to go too fast or the middle won't register.

I agree ---it has been a royal pain in the butt.

I deleted the assignments on the 3 way switch (control H) and reset it to just the center point --hope that helps

Thanks for the advice
