Hi if I have a fighter behind me six and he dont have a radar lock on me,can the radar see this or do I have to see him visually ?????????and can he lunch a infrared missile without no warning?????
when an enemy radar is painting you, you will get a warning on you RWR or Beriosa...when he locks you, you will get a audio warning and again when he launches a Radar missile.
if the enemy flies a western aircraft you will get a warning when he locks you to fire the IR however the russian planes have a IRST system that can lock you on heat source and fire IR missiles...this cannot be detected by radar warning systems so if an enemy russian plane is behind you you might get a R73 or R27ET up your tailpipe before you know of it.

The F-15 doesn't have to lock you up to fire a AIM-9, all he needs is a heat source, which you are giving him if he's on your 6.

if you lock an enemy with BVR, boresight or Vertical scan in the F15 you will get a cue right? its only if you take mode 6 and uncage the Aim9 seeeker that you can launch without the enemy knowing or how is it?
you can shoot the sidewinder without the radar on at all. select the sidewinder and on the hud you will see two circles, the field of view circle and the seeker head circle. if there is a heat source inside the larger field of view circle, the seeker will lock on, and you'll see the smaller circle overlay the target. you'll get tone, and at that point you can fire. IIRC this works in any combat mode when the radar is off. even if your hud is down, you can still fire the AIM9 using the tone.
