I was wondering what everybody's opinion of the War on Terror is. I know nobody really wants to think of war, but I'm in a very heated debate about the war with some Canadian guy (I've got nothing against Canadians.), that says,"The war is pointless and the United States is only in Iraq and Afghanistan to kill." I argue that the United States and the Allied NATO countries are not there to kill, but to protect and liberate the people in those countries from the terrorists threats. I'd like to know whether I'm right or wrong. I know that there are many, many different reasons why we are in Iraq and Afghanistan, so I'd like to hear opinions. Um, also my father currently serves in the U.S. Army and is in Afghanistan right now, I'd normally ask him, but he doesn't like to talk about the war.

3)The Internet is an global medium and the forum an international meeting place of people who share their enjoyment of our hobby. As such there is a wide variety of cultures and political views. This is not a place to discuss politics or current world events. Past experiences have shown that discussions of these natures bring out the emotions and passions of forum goers. This is not the place to discuss these things. If you feel the need to discuss these topics please find a more appropriate forum that caters towards these discussions. Political and current event threads will be removed by moderators and the posters warned.
I'm sure there are some political forums around for you to talk about the war in Iraq if you really want. But I think most topics about this subject wil end up in a "I am right and you are wrong" situation.

You should spend more time flying and less time on the forums, bro. You'd improve faster.

Yes, I doubt you'll get much political discussion here, but being Canadian myself, in case you weren't aware, Canada has troops in Afghanistan a well.
Yes I know, my Father works with some I think. Are there any Canadian Troops at Bagram AB, does anybody know?

Yup, not a good thing to talk about here. But feel free to join us at http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/756105611. You can use your same UBI membership, and talk about such things in one of very few places it is allowed on their boards.

IMO discussing politics online is basically an invitation to post some pretty extreme views that wouldn't normally make it to the breakfast table. It's much better to discuss these types of issues face to face, not just because you'll get a more coherent argument but you'll also not have to listen to people with preprepared arguments that have nothing to do with the person or post they are replying to.
The last political argument I got into, online, was years ago and it was a complete waste of time, it ended as always with both sides spouting out irrelevant or repetitive arguments and when I asked one guy, "did you even read my post", he replied, "why should I read your bull**** when I have so much of my own to post", lol it was damn funny though but a wake up call that the only thing achieved was a slight rise in blood pressure .
My politics is considerably left wing and I'm glad I don't have to come here and listen to any right wing nonsense as I am sure others are glad they don't have to listen to my nonsense .
Anyway Gods Speed to your Dads safe return wags94.

Those vids are hilarious, along with the Marines carrying around a dead camel spider and scaring the s*** of of each other with it. The marching ducks is a pretty funny one too.

Thanks for the info about the JeffCo show, Kevin. If they are going to have an F-4 there, I'll definitely have to go. I didn't know they were back to having actual airshows at JeffCo. They pretty much stopped having those at the private airports ever since Jack Rosamond died in his F-86 at JeffCo.
