Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum. I am trying to get started with this game, by going through the tutorials - UPT training. But i find very difficult in navigation i.e getting the plane in the right course Is this game is designed for professional fighter pilots ? And, i am using only the keyboard. I don't have a joy stick. Is it necessary to buy it? Any suggestions ? Thank you!! thushianthan. |

absolutely necessary to have a joystick. other than what you're already doing with the training to get the basics, read the manual. it really helps.

To threadstarter : The manual is located in Program Files/Ubisoft/EagleDYnamics/Lock On/Doc . About the joystick, i have been wondering the same thing here : http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...8610606/m/8891048957 _____________________________ E8600 (4,2 ghz) Evga 780 i OCZ 2 GB Reaper GTX 285 SLI |

Doogerie...forums is for helping yes but i will rather help you by telling you to go through all the tutorials in the game aswell as reading the manual as mentioned above.
also check out This Website. very useful video totorials, if you cannot get them to play in Lock on use VLC palyer. |

doogerie - don't think of it as a game. Think of it as a Sim.
It took me many weeks of flying, reading the manual, and watching training material (such as the stuff on IronHands site already mentioned by Kalle) just to feel vaguely comfortable taking off, landing and flying around and not getting too lost. Then I tried actually using the jet as a weapon system, and started learning all over again To some folks, this sounds no fun. Many PC games take you 5 mins to get into, eg 1st person shooters like call of duty since the controls are like all the similar games. Flight Sims are different, they can take a lot of time to set it up, learn the game, etc. The plus side is the value you get from the Sim. I bought Lockon in December 2003. I still fly it regularly five and a half years later. Not many folks can say that about a PC game. I must've flown hundreds and hundreds of hours. The value for money I've had from it.... I've bought all the MoH and CoD, etc games. Played 'em through a few times and now they gather dust on the shelf. To all, I would say a joystick is a must, I can't imagine trying to fly with the keyboard. I know some folks do and props to them, they must have some skill. thushianthan - for help with navigation, IronHand has a video that may be of interest. It is called The ADI and HSI: NAVIGATION IN THE STEAM GAUGE WORLD here is a link to it, http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/flightbasics.htm you'll find it part way down the page. Just download it and play it with your media player (personally I use a media player call VLC, it plays any file, just google for it). Another thing that may help is that the text from the standard Lockon training missions is available for download with more than a hundred of the most helpful diagrams and pictures added in I've ever seen, examples below. You can get them from the jabog32 site, link below, http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/...ds&subcat=50&lang=en It is the first on the page and called "Lock ON Flaming Cliffs Trainingsvideos" Dont be confused by that. This download is all the text (plus the helpful pictures). The rest of the downloads on that page are the standard Lockon training missions made into videos should you want those too. Examples of the helpful pictures Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum.... |
