Hi, i just bought GF9800GTX+ and LockOn runs very slow, only 15 fps at maximum details (1600x1200). Does anybody known why? (sorry for my english) (P4-650 4,83GHz, 9800GTX+, 640GB HDD, 4GB RAM, Vista32). My friend has 8600GT and quad core and game runs more quicklier.

You think the graphics of lomac will actually stress your videocard in the slightest ?
It will not .

Lomac is old game, CPU dependant.

Can't comment on how lomac performs on vista btw as i'm still on XP

thanks, but if the game is cpu dependant and old , why it runs quicklier on quadcore 2,6GHz (oter 3 cores are probably idle because it is old game) as on my 4,83 single core?

CPU dependant means that the game relies much more from the processor than from the graphics card.

The graphics of lock on are quite simple, your videocard can handle those EASILY .

So in the case of Lomac, your cpu is 'the bottleneck' .
With that P4 you are also running DDR memory i believe ?
Not DDR2 .

It needs a fast processor more then it needs a fast graphics card.

I believe your p4 is socket 775, just like core2duo for instance.
Also, your overall gaming performance would benefit greatly from say a core2duo proc and some memory to fit .

The processor you have now is just not fast enough to get the max out of that videocard.

You could download the 'aquamark3' benchmark from guru3d . Run it and post the score here .

It's an older benchmark, also heavily cpu depandant because todays graphics cards don't have any trouble rendering those graphics .

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=673

^ Link ^ . I would be very interested in the score you would get so if you decide to download and run the benchmark plz post the score.

55.000 points.

This is with a core2duo at 4 ghz . And an 8800GTX .

Now this is just a benchmark and does not always represent gaming performance.
BUT, your processor is holding your videocard back. !
Like diesel in race car .

It's a shame really, you should really get a nice processor to match that video card.
Because right now it really does not matter what videocard you use, because your processor is too slow anyway.

Ask around on tech forums like http://www.nvnews.net , or guru3d , or one of the other 100's of hardware sites .

Yes, one last thing i forgot to explain:

Your P4 may have higher clockspeed, but is still VERY SLOW compared to modern processor with lower clockspeed.

And like you said, the number of cores does not matter with LOMAC.
Also not with Aquamark benchmark which is also old like lomac.
