my old Video Card died(Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS)
and now i have got another one, a Nvidia Geforce 8800GT and since i changed the clouds have been like this: any idea what the cause could be? the driver is probably 1 or 2 months old, is that too much? |

Do you have shadows in game set to full? If so, set to planar.
I'm a PC gamer. Any comments I make that don't specifically state a platform you can bet I'm referring to PC. 3Sqn Forums All the cool LOMAC stuff |

I think it's a driver issue .
You could revert back to an older driver (i think from before 180.** and you should be fine, if that is worth it to you . _____________________________ E8600 (4,2 ghz) Evga 780 i OCZ 2 GB Reaper GTX 285 SLI |

|

google "old nvidia drivers" or something like that. there are a few sites that keep archives. maybe even the nvidia site does. i know ati does, but i haven't used an nvidia card since my old mx440

You did install a new video card driver when you put the new card in the computer right ? These are the newest drivers for WINDOWS XP 32 bit , but i fear those will make the clouds blocky as well, as they do with me to .http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_185.85_whql.html These are older drivers that you could give a try also for WINDOWS XP 32 bit : http://downloads.guru3d.com/Ge...t-download-2087.html Last one is from guru3d . They have pretty much all drivers that matter. Once again, i assume you are still running windows XP 32 bit, and NOT windows vista . _____________________________ E8600 (4,2 ghz) Evga 780 i OCZ 2 GB Reaper GTX 285 SLI |

Change the anti-aliasing and/or antiscoptic setting in your nvidia drivers.

set them higher or lower???
|
|||
|
turning them off would be the best bet to determine if that is the problem.

hi !
i had the same problem (8800 GT). i had to lower the AA in the Nvida panel from X4 to X2 (AA option : override application) and everything was normal again. It could be also driver related, i am using at the moment the latest 185.xx and is working fine. best wishes, i'm sure you'll get it going! |

AA=Anti Aliasing???
under that i have Anti-Aliasing Gamma correktion (on) Anti-Aliasing Transparancy (Supertrying) Anti-Aliasing Setting (which I set to 2x for Lock on, before it was on 16xQ) Anti-Aliasing state (improves program setting) I translated it all from Danish so some of it might be wrong due to bad translation. is that what you meant? |

From what i have read it is this setting. Try differnet numbers, 2, 4, 8 etc. |

Thanks for the help, that did it. |

Well i'll be damned. Worked for me to.
Before i had tried with 8x AA, and NO AA . Would have thought that if it was an AA problem that setting it to disable would have done the trick. Guess not . 2xAA it is . _____________________________ E8600 (4,2 ghz) Evga 780 i OCZ 2 GB Reaper GTX 285 SLI |
