Yeah, there's a sticky up about it. You can't register presently.

Oh, and with respect to firefox, go to Tools -> Options -> Web Features. You will notice a check-box for blocking pop-up windows. Leave it checked, just add www.lockon.ru to the "Always allow the sites below to open pop-up windows" field.

Hey guys
I just downloaded the Vhkir movie from the forum and I must say I am very impressed. Does anyone know if those are the actual sound effects for the game or were they just put in for the movie? Either way it looks and sounds very good. bow

Yeah, Lomac is now looking the way I wanted it to all along. Of couse, bugs still need some work too I'm sure, but think of how long it took for F4 to get up to speed.

I only wish the Lomac release wasn't rushed by UBI. Atlest they didn't do the same thing with Silent Hunter 3.

Wonder if the New damage model is only on the Su25?

Also they made the russian planes more modern, Now hope they updated the Nato planes also (not talking about flyable ones, I know this is a russian release)

Kinda silly if Modern Russian planes are going agaist Early 90s NATO versions.

Hi,

They didnt make the Russian aircraft more modern...what makes you say that?

The Su-25T is an early 90´ies development, while the Su-25 it supplements is a much older design.

Or are you are refering to the avionics improvements of the Russian fighters?....if so then this has nothing to do with modernising them, but simply modelling them more accurately.

Cheers,

2. We carried out avionics modernization of the Russian aircraft Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29:

New operation modes of weapon control system and radar were added. Among them are a TWS tracking mode of up to 10 targets, sub-modes of target search in forward hemisphere (HI PRF), target search in backward hemisphere (MED PRF), automatic mode of forward and backward hemispheres simultaneous view (HI-MED PRF).
Dependence of target mark on radar cross section was introduced.
Jamming gate when using ECM and jamming lock-on device for further shooting was introduced.
Vertical scan modes, Fi0, navigation modes were revised.
Indexes of weapon availability on pylons and a weapon alertness sign were introduced.
Radar physics was changed, inertial target tracking was implemented, range detection limitations depending on flight altitude and angle of roll were introduced.
Aircraft AI behavior was changed. Now AI planes with ground task will not be hunts for any SAM, having thrown the primary targets.

3. All angle dimensions of Russian HUD correspond with the real ones. The list of snap-views which can be set was enlarged due to introduction of mirror-views, besides via configuration LUA files for each aircraft you can set not only "quick" views but also initial camera position and angle of view.

4. Parameters of various weapon types were re-specified and adjusted:

Shaped-charge projectiles hit effect is calculated. In the case of a target miss they hardly damage the armor.
Cratering bomb effect is more accurately calculated.
Anti-aircraft missiles trajectory were changed and optimized.
Realistic launch and hit range of air defense systems was modeled.

Yes that is an unfortunate choice of words Smile .

The Russian fighter(MiG-29/S, Su-27/33) avionics were *NOT* modernized....the listed changes/additions/improvements for the radars(N019 and N001) of these aircraft all concern the accuracy with which they are modelled.

As already stated by Shepski, in many cases this actually increases the combat workload when flying MiG-29 and Su-27 versions...in some cases the workload is decreased.

The Russian fighter avionics modelled in Lock-on are the original ones dating back to the early 80s....and they remain so in Lock-on 1.1 Wink .

The only flyable Russian aircraft for which the word "modern" comes into play, is the Su-25T. As compared with the exisisting Su-25 in Lock-on, the new Su-25T introduces advanced automated flight functions, more advanced target acquisitions system(Shkval TV), Night vision pod(Mercury LLTV), a wider range of guided A2G munitions and improved self protection(ECM and IR jammer).

Cheers,

I personally have no doubt that people will find lots of stuff to complain about once again. No wait they already do:

Uhm why not?

???

The content of the 1.1 addon is a result of the publishing situation (Ubi has no more interest in any further Lock On products), available research material, work that was already prepared and available manpower. Not that this hasn't been pointed out already time and again.

The reason for the focus on Russian aircraft is because the developer is Russian, and they are marketing LOMAC:FC mostly towards the Eastern European market. That said, I'm quite happy with Russian aircraft.

Yeah, I prefer NATO aircraft too. Why not, I'm an American after all.

But even if the Su-25T was the only playable aircraft, I would still be buying. Why? Because the simulation of it is awesome! And the fact that more than one aircraft is playable and they're all high-fidelity is just icing on the cake! I would love to have a flyable F-16 (I love its power over the F-18), but really, so what it doesn't have it. I'm just happy there's some NATO at all, as ED is Russian and mainly focused on the eastern market.

Maybe after a few more years as the code gets more stable, the eyecandy only continues to increase, and more flyable NATO aircraft are added UBI will realize what an awesome sim this is and throw some marketing weight behind it and publish it again. Who knows.

Hey! You stole my sig!

I'll buy this sim when it comes out, unless I forget or have no money.

UBISoft probably doesn't care how good or bad a product is as long as it sells. The problem is that the public doesn't care as much for high fidelity sims as a few individuals do. If you want to argue against that, just consider the fact that they were giving away free copies of LOMAC with PF, an equally well modelled but inherently simpler sim. Therefore, it would be unprofitable for UBISoft to spend too much money on LOMAC.
If you wanna do something about it, try getting friends hooked onto LOMAC. I've shown it to both my roommates, but while they've admired the sim, I doubt they'll take it up seriously. Too many hardware requirements, too steep a learning curve.
