I too have this "NTDLL" trouble with FC 1.11
this Fix seems to work other than the occasional "NTDLL" error when quitting game (I can put up with that!) Thankyou "Coldscrew" exellent work. STICKY. |

Someone should post this on the ru site so it might be able to be incorporated into the FC 1.2 patch!

If I may, take this dead horse and put it back on the table for more beating...
I'm on XP SP2, and for some reason, the "lockon.exe.local" work around doesn't work for me. After making the file, I launch the game (1.12a btw) and I do get the entry point errors but then I get one more "Runtime error", "Abnormal program termination" message and the game shuts down. How are you guys getting this to work? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Carlitoboy, |

Hello, I'm new here too and I'm having the same problem as Carlitoboy, tried your fix but it doesn't seem to work for me.
I've had the game since it came out but it ended up on the back shelf because of the problem with CTD after saving and trying to load second part of the campaign for A10. I just dug it out yesterday and blew the dust off, thought I'd give it another go after finding this Forum and post but, alas no luck Any ideas are most welcome so I can enjoy the game for what it is. Cheers in advance, Paul. |

I just tried this, but then I after hitting ok to the "The procedure entry point _resetstkoflw could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll" I get this eror "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime Error! Program: E:\Program Files\ubisoft\eagle dynamics\lock on lockon.exe Abnormal program termination" then after hitting ok to that it closes Lock on. Happens in the loading page every time I try to play it. When removing the "lockon.exe.local" file out of teh folder it works again, but still has the same problem as before. Help please. |

********UPDATE********
Hi peeps, I have just found the solution to the "Runtime Error" problems in the above posts! The issue is that one of the windows XP updates has changed the MSVCRT.DLL in the windows System32 folder. This version will cause the game to crash. Also, the version included in the game folder will not run with windows XP SP2 (not for me at least). So, you have to get hold of the original version of MSVCRT.DLL that came with the windows XP CD, copy it into the LockOn folder (replacing the original) then using the LockOn.exe.local trick, force that version to be used by the game. Now the only problem is getting hold of the original windows version of the file. After all, it has been replaced by an update... Well fear not! After a search in my Windows folder, I found the original version in one of the backup folders. You know you have the right version when the version number is 7.0.2600.0 (NOT 7.0.2600.2180!). So have a search through your windows folder, you might just find it hidden away somewhere. Failing that, you can restore the original version from the windows CD by following the instructions here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324762 (note that if you do it this way, you don't need to use the LockOn.exe.local trick, since windows will load up the right version anyway) Well, this worked for me, and I can finally play Mission 2 in the F15 campaign! I hope it will work for you too! |

Thank you so much!
For the people who have the runtime error, I can confirm what Prost posted is true. Just delete it. It's a shame this game will never get patched :/ |

Hi, I found this forum after trying to install Lock On v1.02 on a new system. I was unable to play it, same error as in this thread.
My rig: Gigabyte MA790GP-DS4H, AMD 9850BE, 2x1Gb 1066MHz ram, 1x WD Velociraptor 150Gb and 3x Samsung 7200rpm 1Tb, 2x Gigabyte HD4850 (trying to get it in Crossfire but not succesful yet) and Win XP, sp2. I made a new install of XP a month ago and was unable to install Lockon. Today I resintalled XP, so far sp2, and I managed to get Lockon to run. Msvcrt.dll is version 7.0.2600.2180, rev aug 4 2004. I will see what happens as win xp updates itself and post the results here. |
