An incredible tool, that allows you to shut down services automatically before loading lo-mac, and having them restarted afterwards. It also defrags your RAM!

Believe it or not, with this trick, (and all the others quoted in this list, like scrapping zweiblau.dll), I run lo-mac on a MOBILE Pentium M 1,4 Ghz with a ATI radeon 9000 with ONLY 32 MB video ram and 512 Mb Ram without stuttering!!!!

Think of all these accountants, journalists and salespeople who will suddenly be able to play Lo-Mac on their office PC's! Employers, beware!!!

In a way it may sound funny at first, but I'm affraid that you are not 100% right on that matter. Missing the point or somthing. I guess you know that but in a way your post states something else, so I'm writing this reply anyway.

The point is not to lower the graphics level. It's just a side effect of an effort to do something else.

There are two types of tweaks here:
1. The ones that lower eye candy and thus lower "realism", those tweaks are probably used by people who wouldn't be able to play the game anyway without lowering some settings. If face with a choice to play or not to play one can hardly "blame" them for trying.
2. The ones that help to tailor the game for even better performance then the one which dev's had in mind. For example pop-up and stutter lowering tweaks in fact increase eye-candy and "realism".

Point 1 tweaks do lower graphics det. then but I doubt that any player would try them given a choice to have good graphics with decent FPS.

Anyway, all this seems obvious to me and problably to most other readers of this forum, but I'm writing this just to make sure things are clear. Smile

I have a decent rig and I can't play this game maxed out. I'd love to have high graph. det. but I can't. So for now I'll use tweaks form both points. And when I'll upgrade my rig, perhaps a year from now, I'll gladly forget all tweaks that fall under no 1. category and enjoy the game at full det. Smile

You're right, I know that, I even did precise that I was not saying it was stupid, or advising not to do that, because I'm tweaking myself, but that doesn't change anything to what I'm saying. The concept is beautiful. That does not ask any comments or answer, that's just a constatation, an observation, a fact. And I think it's funny...

I've returned home on 16th. Went away for two days to visit my family and to tell them about my trip. Then went away about a job I'm trying to get in a city 300 away from where I live now. I wanted to go through the forum today and update this thread but my brother called me and all hell broke loose (see my OT post in main forum). Tomorrow I'm either trying to book him some tickets for the trip back home or still trying to help him to find a job. Perhaps on Saturday I'll have some time. Smile Unless of course my future employer doesn't call me saying "You start on 1st next month" meaning that I'll have just one week to move to another city. :P

RL obligations come first. Smile

ps:
And I can't even fly the damn thing, because I had to return my joystick (damaged) and it'll take them 4 days more to determine that they have to give me my money back. :> :P I WANT HOLIDAYS FROM MY HOLIDAYS! Wink

Ok, I have weekend more or less free so I'll try to read through all the stuff you guys wrote. Smile 23 days away and only 19 pages this time (last time it was 10 days and 25 pages, wow.). 1.02 patch must have really calmed things down (not counting the initial hustle and bustle because of its release). I'll try to read all of it today, edit all the stuff and post it before tomorrow evening. I'm not promising anything though. Smile

Escar, couple of things you might be interested in regarding helo's from ships. First a fix for Neustrashimy...

second, adding other Helo's to fly from ships - I figured out how to use the French language fix by Unknown author that is already in your thread.

a little way down the thread is my explanation.

There are two post by me in the beggining of this thread. As stated in the second post and in the update thread in the main forum, what I've done so far is only an update of the previous tweaks I posted. I've search for valid links to the topics all these tweaks originated from, found the authors and added some comments. Besides that I've cleared out the layout a bit and added comments that were made in this thread. Smile

The new tweaks are not yet included. They will be, probably in the second post (counting from the beggining of this thread). I have about 50 links to threads in this forum written down, plus 14 outside pages and 4 extra tweaks. What you see right now took me one evening to accomplish, so it's not such a quick task to do. Smile Pasted to Word it spans 58 pages. Smile

I wanted to finish the update the next day after I posted first half of it (with older tweaks updated). I thought I was going away for just one evening, but I had to stay in my other house for a bit longer. I don't have the neccessary files here, to work on this, besides I'm too busy doing something else. Probably I'll be back on Sunday or something and then I'll start preparing the second part because right now it seems that I'll have Sunday evening free. Smile

So how do you like it now, eagleioaiojaojo? Smile

It now spans (as a total, both posts) whopping 85 pages in Word. Smile 143 KB. I think it will be at least 5 KB more before I finish it (for now). Two things more left to add:

Table of contents is a pretty obvious thing, so no need to write anything about it.

As for the list of files I'm going to check out a couple of file-links I have, read some more and then compile a list of must-have's (based on my own experience). These will not only be mods, but also programs such as LoMan, LOPE, LOTU, LOMU, etc.

Then I'll consider this "job" finished and hopefully, in the future, I'll just have to add one or two entries a week. Instead of going through 50+ pages. Smile

Update complete. Hope you like it and find it useful. Sorry that it took such a long time but real life obligations come first. I've spent my all "flying time" updating this thread (meaning that I haven't flown much since I started working on this).

Two first posts in this thread contain all the interesting info I managed to find.

As a file all this info takes up 195 KB of space and pasted to Word spans 94 pages.

Newest tweaks are listed in the second post. File section is located in the beginning of the first post.

It was a mundane task and pretty time consuming. I'm glad it's finished. At least for now.

Please check out this thread in the main forum and try to do something about the mods I requested there. Smile

All in all, this is a great game. With all the files listed installed and with all the tweaks listed performed it becomes even greater.

Hmm... well? Any comments? Smile
