Had to download and reinstall my Saitek software . Turned out to be an updated version.
In general everything works OK --however this updated version is far inferior to the older one in many ways. But be that as it may I was doing pretty good creating my Lockon profile again (this software uses a different profile format). So I go into the sim to test my newly established profile and my throttle will only allow me to rev the engine up to 85%. Can hardly taxi at this setting. I go into the Saitek control panel and on the test screen the throttle appears to respond normally. In the calibration area the throttle setting is responding in reverse ---- move the throttle handle forward and the response line falls off to the left. This is the reverse of what happened during calibration in the older version of the software. So --appears I have two unusual things happening ---(1) the calibration appears wierd and (2) maximum engine power is only 85%. I have made no changes in the options/input section in Lockon. Does anyone have any ideas what may be wrong here ????? |

Found my problem.
I relied on the Saitek web site to provide me with the drivers and software to set up my X-45 after I had to uninstall. That was a pretty big mistake. I went to that site several times because the downloads I was getting did not work. Turns out it depends on which page on the site you are at as to which software you download. However each download varifys that you need X-45 software and that I have a WinXP 32 bit system. So it appears that you are downloading the correct software no matter which one you are getting. -------QUIT A MESS. I did manage to load one of their software and driver programs and for the most part everything worked ok. But then the throttle problem poped up. So I went to Google and that took me to a site called Softpedia. I found another driver download. The driver I download from Saitek was 2.15 MB --the driver I downloaded from Softpedia was 12.3 MB. Two totally different drivers. The Softpdia driver is the one I actually needed and it works great. What did I learn from this after a day and a half tring to reinstall my X-45 software ??? --------I sure don't trust Saitek. |

I tried downloading updated software for my Saitek once... Once. Never again. Just threw in the CD my X45 came with, and used that. It's not like anyone was beating their brains in to hurry up with new software- you'd think they would have at least tested it once before posting.. I'm glad to be rid of Saitek..

I did not get a CD with my X-45 purchase.
The whole situation is a bunch of crap when you have to rely on the company to provide you with internet downloads to install your stick. It would be ok if they had a user friendly web site that easily provided you with the correct software without having to beat your head against a wall trying to get the job done. I have a suspicion that they purposely took the X-45 software off of their site so that if you desperatly needed it you would become so frustrated with the wrong software they provided that you would throw away your now useless stick and buy the X-52 as a last resort. Just good marketing strategy on their part. I will have to say that even though I am aware there are many really good sticks available and most are better than the X-45 or X-52 I have used the X-45 for several years and as far as reasonably priced sticks go I have been more than satisfied with it. The software is user friendly and the whole system is reliable and effective. But would I buy another Saitek product ---- NO. Especially after what I have been through the past couple of days. |
