dunno if anyone has experience with the mission editor but how do you prevent ground attack planes from dropping their ordinance when they get engaged by enemy fighters. i want them to just dogde the best they can and continue heading for, and attacking the target instead of going A2A.
thats what the escort is there for.

The sim does not provide any options that allow you to change or reprogram anything that the AI does.

Everyone is usually ignorant of what to expect from the AI unless they do a lot of testing to see what they are capable of under various circumstances.

However in the mission editor you do have the option of creating your AI to be average or excellent, etc.

Try using bombers instead of fighters to attack your targets --- they probably will not drop their ordinance.

Fast? How about B-1B/Tu-160/Tu-22M?

What kind of strike are we talking about?

I remember managing to make a wing of Tornados attack an ru fleet with at least one moscow and a kuznetsov in it.. It might have been 1.10, I'm not sure.

Hmm, try using the british A2G tornadoes armed with HARM missiles, and set them to do max speed at min alt.. Have you tried F-16's with AGM-88's and 65's?

I just finished creating a pretty good mission with Tu-160's.

It has a small surprise in it. As you sit on the ramp spooling up -- the first TU comes unexpectedly over your head from behind at about 300 feet and 450 kts and drops a stick of parachute bombs. A slightly unusual start.

The TU -160 and B1 are great bombers if you want jet speed.

just thought theres something cool about fighter bombers sweeping in low and fast, i was using german F4's and Mig29'but they always drop their bombs and engage the airfield defenders instead of drop the bombs first on target first.

Talk about cool ---this is the coolist thing I have ever done in mission creating.

You are peacefully sitting there waiting for the engines to finish spooling up and all of a sudden BAM - BAM - BAM ---bombs start dropping out in front of you a couple of hundred yards away and this TU-160 screams into view at low altitude full blast with the intent of getting the hell out of dodge. Big Grin

And then another one drops a stick of bombs coming in from another direction at the same speed and altitude crossing close behind the first one.

Sorry Kalle, I know it isn't the answer you are looking for but I'm afraid that the first reaction of AI when threatened is to "lighten the load" and dump their weapons so they can evade the threat better. If you think about it, increasing the chances of self preservation is sensible. If it were my skinny @ss on the line, that's what I'd do Big Grin

Nothing you can do to stop them doing this.

I think the only aircraft that won't do this are the ones with weapons in an internal bomb bay.

Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....

true but if everybody did that noone ever would get to the target with bombs... thats the point of the Escort... to take care of the threat so the bombers can get through.... sigh
