When I try to start a versus game, the game shuts down with a C++ error concerning SCCT_Versus.ex

My graphics card has 3.0 shader

I'd appreciate any help.

P.S. My computer can play every mode in the game except for versus. I bought a legal copy of the game.

The versus mode for splinter cell chaos theory doesn't support Shader model 3.0 only 2.0 and 1.0 which would probably explain the boot failure when you start it up. Set your graphics setting to 2.0 and you should be fine.
