OK, so all minimum requirements are right. I ran a detection tool and it is telling me that my video memory is 1. I have plenty of memory on the computer, the video card is an ATI Radeon 9250 256 MB DDR.
What can be done to correct this? Again, I'm not computer savvy and I may not have posted enough info here. I posted a diag report on my last question, nothing has changed since. Please help. Thanks. Again! |

Questions:
1. Did renaming or deleting vpd.properties allow you to re-install EoA with no glitches or error messages? 2. What problems are you now having with EoA? (If you're not having problems playing the game, it doesn't matter what the EoA Detection Tool tells you!) Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |

Yes, I was able to reinstall EoA. I try to start the game, display box appears saying starting Myst then disappears, cd runs for a few seconds but game never actually starts. Thought by looking at detection tool it may tell me what's wrong, everything is compatable except for the video memory.
Thanks, I really appreciate your help! |

Download and install ATI's Catalyst 6.5 video driver, as detailed in Myst V: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP. To prepare for driver installation, do the following:
Clear your Internet Explorer caches. -- a. Close all open applications. -- b. Open a single Internet Explorer session. -- c. Click on Tools > Internet Options. -- d. Click on Delete Cookies > OK. -- e. Click on Delete Files (check the 'Delete all offline content' box) > OK. -- f. Click on Clear History > Yes. -- g. Click on OK to exit. Use Windows (not Internet) Explorer to search all hard disks and partitions for \temp, \tmp, and \temporary folders, and delete any files in these folders that aren't currently in use. If you can delete a file in a temp folder, it's not in use - if it's in use, Windows won't let you delete it. -- a. Close all open applications, and open a Windows Explorer session. (Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer.) -- b. Click on Tools > Find > Files or Folders. -- c. Type temp in the Named: box. -- d. Click on the arrow at the right end of the Look in: box and then click on the disk drive to be searched. -- e. Click on Find Now to start the search. -- f. Click on the temp folders found to open them. -- g. Delete any files in these folders that aren't currently in use. -- h. Repeat for tmp and temporary folders. -- i. Close Windows Explorer back to the Desktop. Empty the Recycle Bin. If you're positive no files have been deleted by mistake, do only steps g through i. -- a. From the Desktop, right-click on the Recycle Bin. -- b. Click on Open to view the Bin's contents. -- c. Click on any file that was deleted by mistake. -- d. Click on File > Restore. -- e. Repeat as necessary. -- f. Click on File > Close. -- g. Right-click on the Recycle Bin. -- h. Click on Empty Recycle Bin. -- i. Click on Yes to confirm file deletion. Download Catalyst 6.5 (not 6.8) to a folder on your hard disk, not to the Desktop. And then install Catalyst 6.5 using the procedure under Installing ATI Radeon Drivers, "3. Here's the driver installation procedure." in Myst V: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP. Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |
