I just installed Myst V and when I try to access the Manual, it says I need to install Adobe Reader.
I already have the latest version (7.0) and use it all the time. I sent a question to UBI and got answer back that I should uninstall mine and then reinstall version in Myst V. Readme doesn't list the version ... ...and it doesn't make sense for me to uninstall my current version.... Is there any other way I can get to the Manual. So far the game is "playing" well... tmgrl |

In this case, Ubi Support is correct.
It may not make sense, but I've seen the same thing happen with other programs. Adobe Reader 7 is nice, but it only supports Win XP/Server 2003/NT, and it can cause problems with .pdf files created under earlier Windows versions. To get to Reader versions 6.0.1 and 5.0.5 (which support earlier Windows versions), start here. I'd recommend Reader 6.0.1. Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |

Thanks!!
I may do this...I just get nervous each time I uninstall a program that came with my computer...and then install a different version. Guess there is no other way to access the manual.... |

LOL
I uninstalled 7.0 Installed 6.01... Got the manual It's the same one that came with the CD!! I thought it was different. Anyhow...excellent advice....I will simply keep this version which I had before I changed it to the latest version... Now if I can figure out how to get rid of the Registration window that comes up every time I sign on!! I registered! Got the "thank you for registering" e-mail..changed the notification ...still comes up...grgghhh.. I know ...start a new thread... Again, thank you!! Love this forum! tmgrl |

Try the following, starting EoA after doing each step:
-- a. Using Windows Explorer, browse to \Program Files\Ubisoft\Cyan Worlds\Myst V End Of Ages\register, and double-click on RegistrationReminder.exe to run it. Click on Never register, then on OK. Close Windows Explorer back to the Desktop. -- b. Rename RegistrationReminder.exe to something like OLD_RegistrationReminder.exe, and close Windows Explorer back to the Desktop. -- c. Use the System Configuration utility to check for and remove a startup listing for Myst V Registration. (See How to troubleshoot by using the System Configuration utility in Windows XP for details.) ----- 1. Click on Start > Run, and type msconfig.exe in the Open: box. ----- 2. Click on OK to run the program. ----- 3. Click on the Startup tab and look in the list for a Myst V Registration entry. ----- 4. If you find a Myst V Registration entry, un-check the box, click on Apply, and then on OK. ----- 5. Reboot. Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |
