The purpose of this new thread is for those of us who have bought myst 5 thruDirect 2 Drive
and who also run vista. I also recieved the "OS not supported" error.

I can only tell you what worked for me. I can't promise it will work for you. I am not a programmer. I'm just a gamer. However we are all here to help each other, so i can only hope that my fix, works for you as well.

(BTW - burn that puppy to a labled dvd-r, or flash drive so you dont have to download it again. - tip )

So you have the monstrous 1.78 GIG file sitting on your desktop. You need to do some prep work BEFORE INSTALLING.

A) Mark the exe (mystvsetup)with these compatibility attributes:
1)windows xp - service pack 2
2)disable desktop composition
3)run program as admin
then apply > then ok

B) install this patch** that seems to be everywhere on the forum. If you don't do this patch, when you goto install, you will have a "next" button that will be greyed out. Do what the READ_ME says.

(** as a footnote - it talks about vista service pack one. I don't have the service pack. It screws with my PC. I've had to take it ALL the way back to OEM ( fresh out of the box )on several occasions.So I, personally just refuse to install it.**)

C) install the mystvsetup.exe as normal, with default folders, etc

Now like i said, mite not work for you. It did for me. I have tried these settings on other much older games. Like Apocalyptica for example. see my blog here It's an older game, but ive tweaked it so it runs prety good. Oh and getting a better graphics card helped alot too.

So, there it is. Hope you can find something init that works for you. Ile update this as i come across anything.
