Suggestions:

1. The best way to install Myst V is from a clean boot. If you didn't do so, see Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP (one of the stickied topics at the top of this Forum) for details.

2. The latest video driver for your GeForce FX 5500 video chipset is NVIDIA's version 78.01. Download and install this driver as detailed in Myst V: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP, another stickied topic.

If the above don't help, you probably have some other hardware and/or driver problem. If you'll post a DxDiag report in this thread, we'll take a look at your system and make recommendations. See Myst V: System Requirements and Posting Guidelines under To post a DxDiag report for a how-to. Run all of the graphics and sound tests you can before saving the report to a file, and post *all* of the file.

HI,
just bought Myst V today, "3 cds" version. No problem to install but when wanted to play, got an error message "please insert original disk".
After a few hours of trying everything I know, could not get it to play. Went to ubisoft support page and after a search, came up with lot of technical stuff. Since I am a beginner,
I decided it what not worth the trouble.

Then a few hours later, I received an inspiration. I had done the installation with the cd drive and was trying to play the game with same drive. As a last try, I decided to try the dvd drive and surprise..!! the game is so far running fine.
Hope this info can be of help to a beginner like me Angry Blue Guy

HI Kendaman,

I am far from being even a newbie with PCs so until you get the expert, I can only speculate.

When installing did you check if the proper drive "letter" was used in the complete path of your game program file in the small window just before, next..install ?

I am not positive but I beleive there are issues about drive compatibility. Have you updated your drivers ?

Hi NM.

My expectation - your CD player is a CD writer and your DVD player is read only. You fell foul of secuROM copy protection. It's a very common problem on here.

Mr Zebe, you might be right but I am not a tec guy, so please tell me what to do about it. When I click on the start, it says it can not find the exe files. Thanks

I have installed the entire full game and I do get the CD disc during the startup. I even get to the opening movies (UBI and Cyan) but then it craps out when starting the real movie. I have Revelation, which plays great.

What is the SecuROM error and how do I know if I ran afoul of it? I have Win2k.
