I have problems with journal and camera: when I open the journal and write something there, it cannot be saved, and the next time I open journal, it has default record. The same is to camera: i cannot take pictures. But the game state saves every time and restores properly. What happens? How to avoid it? I want to use journal / camera!

Platform: P-D 820 / Asus P5RD1-VM / 2x512M RAM / Asus EN7600GT / Seagate SATA-150 300GB

Try re-installing EoA from a clean boot, as detailed in Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP.

I found why I cannot save journal history: It is because my user name in Windows contains non-English letters (it is in Russian). I can play Myst in 'Administrator' account but cannot play in my account which also belongs Administrators group. Maybe the next patch can fix it.

I fear there won't be a patch for End of Ages. Cyan, the developer of Myst V, is no longer associated with UbiSoft (they're busy working on the new version of Uru Live), and UbiSoft probably isn't going to do anything about it.

So you'll have to continue playing as Administrator.

Have you tried installing from another user account ? I am working on a pc with three users accounts, and all, with administration priviledges and it is working for us. The game does create an icon on the desk (screen) for each account.

At installation, you have to check the box, "create a short cut on desk".

See How To Create and Configure User Accounts in Windows XP for details.
