Hi!

I had a functioning Myst V installation, which had been dormant for a while. Now I cannot start the game.

I have tried to erase and reinstall. Recently, I became a Beta Tester for Myst Online and I wonder whether this could have interferred?

Anyway, the error is as following: If starting from the main menu, the following alert occurs:

"Main Branch.. has encountered a problem and has to close"

Error Signature:
AppName: eoa.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1751 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2945 Offset: 000eea1c

If I start the eoa.exe from the DVD, I get the message that the following file is missing: binkw32.dll, and I am encouraged to re-install but that doesn't help.

Could anyone please help me? And please excuse for double postings if that is the case!
Best regards
Jens Jakobsson

Take a look at Myst V: Main Branch and Access Violation/Stack Error Fixes, one of the stickied topics at the top of this Forum.

I have found that MYST V will not run with Kaspersky installed. I recently built a new pc and tried Myst V and it worked, I could not have no Virus Proctection so I installed Virus Protection then the program failed with a Main Branch - 05/17/2005 error.

If disabling Kaspersky using the program's options (see the Kaspersky User Guide, pp. 39-40, "4.2. The context menu") in order to play EoA doesn't work, try not loading Kaspersky at bootup using msconfig:
-- a. Click on Start > Run.
-- b. Type msconfig in the Open: box, and click on OK to run it.
-- c. Click on the Startup tab.
-- d. Uncheck all Kaspersky-related boxes, and click on Apply > Close > Restart.
-- e. Log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, close all open applications, and play EoA.

When you don't want to play EoA, run msconfig as above, but check all Kaspersky-related boxes and reboot.
