Shorah,
I have an Asus PTGD1-LA (3 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR motherboard (almost four years old). My pc is a: HP Pavilion 061 Product: PC109A-ABA A630N Version: 0nB1211RE101GROUP00 Would it be a good idea to change my CMOS battery before it fails or should I wait until it starts behaving strangely ? Thank you for your time, Nanouk. P.S. If I do, I intend to follow these instructions...click here |

Hi Nonouk,
I had a simulur problem with my comp. which is about 4 to 5 years old. But I am using XP Sp2 and when started up, it warned me my battery was getting low. I don't know if all makers of machines using XP is going to give this warning. But for the price of a battery and the short time it takes to replace. It is not a bad idea. Of course I am using a Dell and the case has a door you just open and you can get inside easyly. I guess it is a piece of mind thing. Take a chance and not replace it or do it for your own piece of mind. What ever you do is up to you. Good luck. |

Unless you're the adventurous type and enjoy strange behavior in your PC, I'd recommend replacing the CMOS battery *before* it fails!
