I have a P4 1.8 GHz processor, a 1.25 GB of RAM, an ATI Radeon 9200SE 128 MB graphics card, and am running XP SP2. The problem that I encounter is that when I click on the symbol that is to the lower left of the tablet, the screen goes black, and after several moments, I hear frogs chirping, but the screen remains black. I wait, but nothing happens. Finally, in an attempt to resolve it, I press alt+tab, to change windows, and then I reclick on the game so as to bring the screen back up. Normally this has fixed various other problems (examples being the opening introduction where Atrus reads you his final journal entry, and the part where you meet the second character of the game). However this doesn't fix the problem, and often enough what happens is, I get some kind of error message about the video card having to be temporaily disabled, and also I think something about VGA. Also the entire screen goes into a 4 bit color mode which leads me to believe that something is up with my graphics card. Finally, I did a look up for some drivers, and found something called Omega that was designed to work with my card, so I installed it, turned my resolution down to 800x600, and finally the game started to work right, only one problem; it's all buggy. Whever I try to move it jerks a whole lot, it's *very* unsmooth, disorienting most of the time, in fact, it's all just one giant hassle. Does anyone have any advice at what I can do in order to try and smooth out the gameplay? Do I need to get a new card, do I have to disable something, or what? If anyone has any advice on what I can do to try and stablize gameplay, I would really appreciate it.

Suggestions:
1. Since the Omega driver apparently isn't what you need, try installing ATI's Catalyst 6.5 video driver. First, do steps 1 through 4 under Overall Windows and Hard Disk Tune-up in Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP. Then download and install Catalyst 6.5. For instructions on downloading this driver and installing it, look under Installing ATI Radeon Drivers in Myst V: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP. Be certain to also install the latest end-user runtime release of DirectX 9.0c. 2. If you continue to have video problems after installing Catalyst 6.5, try the setting changes detailed in step 2 of Myst V: Miscellaneous Video Problem Fixes. Heimdall This message has been edited. I ran the program, but the program stopped and siaplayed the following message; "INF error Video driver not found." What does that mean? I already installed the driver from the CD before any of this started, so I can't understand why it would display it. Is it because it requires a certain card. I remember when looking through different download choices that some of them wasn't designed to work for 9200 series, but I already made sure the version I downloaded was compatabile for my card, so that should hardly be the problem.

Since you have a Radeon 9200 chipset, which isn't supported by Catalyst 6.7, I should have said install Catalyst 6.5. My bad!
Which program did you run to get the INF error message? Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |
