#1 Install game as I would any other game-Main Branch Error

#2 Changed compatibility to Windows 2000 and set target to eoa.exe-Main Branch Error

#3 Uninstalled EoA-Set to Selective Start-Up following guidelines found here-Installed EoA and rebooted computer-Main Branch Error

#4 Checked for new drivers for both AC'97 and ATI-got the newest installed

Edit insertion: Also tried to remove Update 917422-I do not know how you think this can be done since there is a quote from MS that says once installed it can not be removed-I am not a novice at computers and tried every way imaginable to log in and remove it to no avail.

Did you actually try removing Security Update KB917422 as detailed in step 4 (including caveats) under Main Branch Error of Myst V: Main Branch and Access Violation/Stack Error Fixes With Win XP? That procedure works for me – I don't believe everything Microsoft says!

NVIDIA has released WHQL driver packages for their motherboard chipsets, for example nForce 430/410/405/400 chipsets. These packages are available starting here. Click on Platform / nForce drivers > your motherboard > your operating system > Go!.

If you've tried installing the appropriate NVIDIA motherboard driver package and have done everything under Main Branch Error in Myst V: Main Branch and Access Violation/Stack Error Fixes With Win XP, I can't suggest anything further.

Maybe someone will post a magic bullet for your problem.

Yes sir I followed the instructions to the letter. No matter how I log into my system, whether Admin or Safe-Mode Admin, the normal Change/Remove button does not show up. If you or anyone else knows a walk around to this let me know.

I am updating the MB drivers right now. Will post outcome later.

Ok. Here is the update.

After installing the new MB drivers I still got the same error.

I then decided to follow every guideline in trouble shooting the install:

#1 Booted into safe-mode Administrator

#2 Selective start-up stopping all non MS services

#3 Since KB917422 relates to Terminal Services, I went and disabled it

#4 Microsoft has a hotfix for problems relating to the installation of KB917422. Though it relates to no error messages, I installed it anyway.

#5 Installed EoA. Switched to Windows 2000 compatability and changed target to eoa.exe

#6 Started EoA without any problem

#7 Restarted Terminal Services

#8 Reset msconfig to Normal Start-up

#9 Rebooted computer

I can now start EoA, though I can not seem to quit back to the desktop. My mouse runs freely around, but still see the EoA start screen. If I can play I can deal with a reboot when done.

Will try to actually start a game now and see what transpires and what errors I may end up with.
