Like if it's packed in shipping "peanuts" made with C-4?

The new ATI X800 XT card I ordered was shipped from Hong Kong on May 29, arrived at LAX at 3:01 am May 30, and was through customs at 10:30 am. This morning it was "processed" at the Santa Ana post office, which is about 5 miles east of my house. Hopefully I will receive it in tomorrow's mail. Not bad for an international purchase. Hopefully it is in one piece.

[Edit: Received the ATI card in today's (May 31) mail, which I thought was amazing. Hong Kong to Fountain Valley CA in 2-3 days. The new card works well, but is not as much faster (per Cinebench 2003 testing) as I would have thought, considering the big differences in ATI's specs between the 9600 and the X800 XT. AND, Myst V still freezes, though not as often. Bummer.]

[Edit #2: Well, maybe I was being hasty. Although the Cinebench 2003 tests showed a score ("Shading") of 1801 for the X800 vs. 1686 for the 9650, when I installed the latest ATI retail driver and retested the X800 on the latest Cinebench R10, it scored 2812. So either the driver installation or possibly the latest release of Cinebench improved the X800 results a lot. Also it has not frozen Myst V since the ATI driver was installed. But it's confusing, since my G5 was built in May 2005, and the latest retail driver is dated March 27, 2005...]

Hello! My husband and I are having the same darn problem as you are. Did the video card fix the issue?? It's starting to really drive me nuts! I've played every single one of the Myst games on this computer (reverting back to OS 9 for Myst and Riven) and this is the ONLY damn version not working. We've done everything you mentioned in the earlier posts, we even took it to the Mac Genius bar (there's one near where we live) and they checked the computer out and gave it a clean bill of health. Myst is the only computer game I like playing and it is so frustrating to not be able to play it. The only thing I've found that sort of stops the frequency of freezing is running Yasu or some other clean-up type program. I'm not very computer savvy, either so I guess I'll either have to deal with the random freezing or stop playing altogether Frown Which is a bummer since we shelled out 40-50 bucks for a game we can't even play. Even though we have all the recommended system requirements. I love my mac, but you just don't have these types of issues on a playstaton.

Smijm,

The final fix was replacing my "stock" ATI 9650 graphics card with the ATI X800 XT. I've had no more problems with that game, or any other Myst game, since then.
