Every time I go to enter Laki'ahn I get the following error message:

The rest of the game works perfectly, and I've had no other problems. I've tried doing everything listed in the Main Branch and Access Violation thread, but to no avail. All that installing a new video card driver did was to make gameplay choppy, so I reinstalled the one I originally had. As far as I can tell, it seems to be more of a problem with the game itself than with my computer. I even asked a question on UbiSoft's support website, but none of their advice helped either. Let me know if there is anything else I can try.

1. Did you install both the latest nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 driver and the latest nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 BIOS update from Dell? (Dell's drivers and downloads for your Inspiron 8600 are available here.)

2. Did you:
-- a. Install EoA from a clean boot as detailed in Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP?
-- b. Pay special attention to the "In general, to minimize EoA installation problems:" and "If the 'in general' items don't help:" sections?

Thanks for responding. Yeah, I downloaded both the video card driver and the BIOS for it, but it still made my video ingame choppy. And I also did everything detailed in the clean boot reinstall, even trying to load the game on a new user account. Most of the game works fine - I just can't get into Laki'ahn. Any other suggestions you can give me will be greatly appreciated! thanks.

Suggestions, to try in the order shown. Play EoA after completing each suggestion, to see if the problem has disappeared.

1. Reset the Initial size and Maximum size of your virtual memory paging file to 1024 MB, as detailed in step 3 of Myst V: Miscellaneous Video Problem Fixes.

2. Close all unnecessary background applications and processes before playing EoA, as detailed in step 4 of Myst V: Miscellaneous Video Problem Fixes.

3. Carry out the video setting changes detailed in step 2 of Myst V: Miscellaneous Video Problem Fixes.

Yay!!! Thanks to all your help, I've finally got the game working again! It allowed me into Laki'ahn after I did the video setting changes in Misc. Video Problem fixes. I could've sworn I'd tried that before, but I guess not, since it worked this time.
