Tried installing Myst V on a new computer that came loaded with Vista. After repeated attempts, just gave up and resigned myself to playing it on an older computer. Did the whole uninstall thing, which seemed to work EXCEPT now, whenever I turn the computer on, after closing it down for the night, the first screen that comes up is something along the lines of "What program do you want to use to open Myst V registration" and I've got to "Cancel" before my computer will continue to do anything else. I never got to the registration stage since I got the stack error everyone else is writing about. Soooo....how can I get get rid of Myst V fully, to the extent that everytime I turn the computer on, I won't have to go through that "What program..." deal on the screen? Thanks.

Hi riforsythe,
First of all, welcome to the forums. As far as not being able to run the game on Vista, Check out the thread on Stack error on Vista Sp1, there is now a fix to make it playable on Vista. You have to download the fix and read the instructions where to install the files, this fix is sanctioned by Cyan, it was created by a fan. As far as the uninstall thing, maybe someone else has an answer for that. Good luck and have a good New Year.

If you are still trying to uninstall Myst V, look on your hard disk for a file called "vpd.properties" and delete it. That might help.

See Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP, especially Installing and Re-Installing EoA. Since Vista is just Win XP with lots of bells and whistles, what's there will apply.
