I'm keeping as detailed a log of my journey through MYST 5 as I can, taking pictures with the in game camera at relevant points. However, when looking at Google images on the web, I can see several pictures of Esher and the Bahro, also a lovely shot of Yeesha as a girl from Revelation. However, I cannot obtain pictures like these because when the game is in Esher, Yeesha or Bahro mode, I lose control of the "hand" and cannot get the camera to work until that particular session is over, when the "hand " is returned to me. Is there any way I can override this and take pictures of Esher and co, or do I need special software to "grab" a screen picture?
If you need a nice and free print tool, I have been using Gadwin (for windows) and it is very easy to use. You have to create an icon on the desk and click on it to send it to the tool bar. One nice feature is that it will create automatically its own printscreen file in your documents and will give each new picture a screenshot number unless you decide to use the small save window (file edit). Unlike some other free trial software, the numbers of shots you can take is unlimited as long as it is not for commercial purposes. If you go on internet, you can use the rectangular option for you to save only the wanted portion...click here
Do not forget to create a hot key, for access while in full screen play in a game. It has to be a different one than your usual print screen button.
Many thanks, nanoukmetal, I have used your "link" ( rather like using a linking book!) and found the Godwin site, downloaded the program, tested it - and it works! I can now supplement my journal with extra pictures once I have completed the game and before I finally print and bind it for my bookshelf. To think, it was a simple as this!
Very happy it did the work. The three I had tested before Gadwin where a pain in the.. (imitation of wstrohm's answer to Alahmnat)
If you need a nice program to work on your pictures, IrfanView (windows only)is available in many languages. It might not be as good as Photoshop but it is free...click here
