I am running Windows XP and I wonder if there is such a thing as a legit Myst 5 "no dvd patch".

There is no such Windows XP patch for Myst V, nor is there likely to ever be such a patch forthcoming from Ubisoft.

That's probably due in large part to PC software piracy and its negative impact on a game publisher's bottom line. For a good article on the subject, see PC Game Piracy Examined.

'Course, there are differing opinions on just what impacts bottom line, as per UBI-to-consumer BIDIRECTIONAL communication! (now at 116 pages, and counting).

BTW, there is an EoA patch that's *only* for Windows Media Center Edition, but AFAIK it's not a no-DVD patch.
