For some reason, Myst V will not work on my computer. Here's what happened: I bought the game new off of Amazon, opened it and played it through. I then proceeded to install it on another one of my computers, and it installed fine. I thought that the resolution could be a little better than the default settings, so I switched it to something (dangerously) high, like 1920x1440, or something along those lines. My monitor proceeded to go black, then a message came up from the monitor that said, "Out of Range, H:94khz V:74hz." I know that the actual game itself is working, because I can hear the music during the Ubisoft logo, but nothing shows up on the screen. Is there a way I can change the display settings outside of the game? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but it still doesn't work. I think it's something with the resolution not corresponding with my monitor. I have a 17' Daewoo Lucoms fullscreen monitor, if it helps. Thank you for whatever help you can give.
Hi nyarmente268, First of all welcome to forum. I had one thought that you might pursue. Uninstall the game again and check for any left over files that the uninstall didn't remove. Look in the Ubisoft folder or Myst V folder, which ever and delete any left over files. Sometimes uninstall doesn't always remove everything. It sounds like your graphics config file did not get deleted. Until our own fine tech. come's along with probably the right solution. It would be something to try.
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, stupid me, I had to go and delete everything manually, instead of using the uninstaller. I deleted the whole Ubisoft folder under Program Files, and then searched "Myst V" under my computer, and deleted anything pertaining to Myst V. I also trashed a file that had a "graphics" dll file that was under the folder "WINDOWS." I thought I had deleted everything, so I went to install the game again, but after I selected my language in the installer, it pops up with a notice that says, "A previous installation of Myst V: EoA has been detected on this computer. Please Uninstall the product first if you would like to proceed with a new installation." Are there any hidden files that I need to delete on my computer for a clean install? I was thinking I might install it on another computer, and then transfer the files manually to this one if it doesn't work. Thank you for the advice.
Yes! Cha-ching! I found a post about reinstalling the game cleanly, and I searched for "vpd.properties" and added "OLD_" in front of it, and now it will actually let me install it again without the error message! Thank you to everyone in this forum! This is one of the first forums that I have ever posted on and recieved legit help!
