I keep trying to install, but I keep getting this http://kitsune.anifics.com/gallery/mystv.bmp . I can't tell if there is an error because the stupid machine has th window cut off. Only part of the window is visible, no matter the resolution, window is not viewable. Something has to be wrong with it. It stayed like that for quite awhile.

First, correctly install the proper driver for your video card and EoA, as detailed in Myst V: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP.

Then, if that doesn't help, try re-installing EoA from a clean boot, as detailed in Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP.

And if neither of the above helps, post a DxDiag repost in this topic so that we can take a look at your system and maybe make recommendations. See Myst V: System Requirements and Posting Guidelines, under POSTING GUIDELINES, To post a DxDiag report for a how-to. Run all of the graphics and sound tests you can before saving the report to a file, and post *all* of the file. To confirm, you didn't just post a DxDiag report, but first installed the proper driver for your video card and EoA (including installing the latest release of DirectX 9.0c) and then re-installed EoA from a clean boot.

Correct?

I don't know what the driver is. It came with the computer. I bought it in march '05. So whatever the factory put in it, is the video driver, I don't really know. I did update the latest directx. Yes I did try to re-install myst. It still got stuck halfway at 33 with a screen that is cut in half.

The latest release of DirectX 9.0c is available here. You should have rebooted after installing DirectX, before doing anything else.

Do the following, in the order shown.

1. Download and install the latest sound driver from HP, available here for your Pavilion a820n. This is the "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Update", version 5.10.0.5123, sp26552.exe, 13.07 MB, released 8/10/05.
-- a. Note the hard drive folder to which you download sp26552.exe.
-- b. Do NOT use a "download accelerator" or "download helper" utility to download this driver or DirectX.
-- c. If you've already installed the latest release of DirectX 9.0c, you don't need to install it again.

Install the driver as follows:
-- a. Log into Windows with full Administrator privileges.
-- b. Disable your anti-virus software.
-- c. Click on Start > Run.
-- d. Browse to sp26552.exe, and double-click on it to put it in the Open box.
-- e. Click on OK to unzip the file and start the install process.
-- f. Follow the installation Wizard's instructions. Accept the install defaults whenever possible.
-- g. Reboot when driver installation is complete.

2. Install the latest driver from Intel for your 82915G/82910GL Express chipset. This is Graphics Driver [WIN2K_XP141950.EXE], version 14.19.50, released 2/8/2006, 5252 KB.
-- a. Note the hard drive folder to which you download win2k_xp141950.exe.
-- b. Do NOT use a "download accelerator" or "download helper" utility to download this driver.

Install the driver as follows:
-- a. Log into Windows with full Administrator privileges.
-- b. Disable your anti-virus software.
-- c. Click on Start > Run.
-- d. Browse to win2k_xp141950.exe, and double-click on it to put it in the Open: box.
-- e. Click on OK to unzip the file and start the install process.
-- f. Follow the installation Wizard's instructions. Accept the install defaults whenever possible.
-- g. Reboot when driver installation is complete.

3. Re-install EoA from a clean boot as detailed in Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP. Pay special attention to the steps under Installing and Re-Installing EoA With Win XP, "In general, any or all of the following may be necessary to prevent EoA installation problems".

4. If EoA still doesn't work properly after the above, try steps 2 through 6 in Myst V: Miscellaneous Video Problem Fixes.
