The response to the new maps has been very positive so far. Very surprising from a community that was livid about 2 months ago.

Because a couple of the maps aren't anything like the original maps and they threw in a couple of the least popular maps instead of the most popular IMO.

Island: sorta popular
Is very Similar to the original with the tall grass, that you can shoot through, that twists and turns to the center of the map were you can either go up or go into the caves.

What isn't the same:
-Where did all those freakin' rocks come from? Was the island a target range for meterorites?
-The houses on the beach are gone, probably destroyed by the above.
-Instead of rock formation that you can climb on and the single tree at the top there is a house.
-The lighting was changed, thank you very much.

Ghost Town:
The only thing similar about this map is having the expensive house on top of the hill. The whole layout of the map is all wrong and obviously someone didn't have the sense to go back and look at this map. This map is an insult to me and to my GR verteran brothers.

What isn't the same:
-The house is bigger, and you can't go inside of it.
-The map is nothing like the original map besides the expensive house on the hill.

Roadblock:
K, map doesn't do Roadblock justice. I didn't care for Road Block that much but it does mean alot to do a map right. First off this map reminds me more of Badlands on Summit Strike. In the original Roadblock you had a big long road that pulled a lazy left all around the map with some bunkers that look over the road on both sides. On the inside of the road there is a canyon wall that has occasional path to go through them that leads to a large open area that has a slight hill with what looks like a a ruined church. There was also a ruined building to the south east of the church, but it was just some walls.

What isn't the same:
-The Staging area has been replaced by a gas station. The original map however the building that was there was non-descript.
-There is a long road that pulls a left but you can't walk it thanks to a fence(wtf), which was never there, and the road debris.
-Can't get to the bunkers on the other side of the map so whats the point in having them there?
-Inside of the road there is suppose to be a big canyon wall and inside the canyon wall it is an OPEN area. I stress OPEN, with a slight hill NOT a hamburger hill type slope with trenches, holes, boulders, and random canyon walls.

Depot: popular map
Surprisingly Spot on, I like the little bit by the tunnel that goes underneath the tracks, that is new. Everything is about the same with the extra rock here and there. The Warehouses are a little different but other than that great work.

What isn't the same:
-Tunnel underneath the track by the tunnel.
-Warehouses are a little different, had to open doors to go inside, never had a second story either.
-The extra random rock here and there.

Bridges: popular map
Took me awhile to figure out this was Night Bridges since the redux is evening. The big change is obviously the maybe being during the daytime hours and the lush tropical vegetation helped keep me scratchin' my head for a bit long. My only gripe is I just wish it was at night like the original because all that vegetation would almost make it better than the original.

What isn't the same:
-Daytime instead of night.
-There are more bridges to cross.
-Little changes in the scenery

Stronghold:
Never really did play this map much, wasn't a big favorite back then partially because of the weather on the map, and because it was the second biggest map on Island Thunder.

Riverbed:
Didn't really play this map that much, was probably the most linear map at the time. Looks similar but I'm not interested playing this map on this game either, Would have rather have had Hunting Lodge or Polling Center.

A couple of map swap suggestions:
Hunting Lodge instead of Strong Hold
Beach instead of Riverbed
Tank instead of Roadblock
High Sierra instead of one of the new maps
