Just wondering how many people from these forums will be getting Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising next week.
Whilst it is not going to be perfect it does tick a lot of boxes of what we have been asking for in a Ghostrecon game for a while now. If OFPDR is a big sucess I wonder if it will give Ubi a nudge to give us a proper tactical game once again.. |

It's at the top of my Gamefly list.. And if it's not a total disaster I'll almost certainly buy it. |

I don't post here much, but if case your wondering OXM(Official Xbox Magazine) UK gave it a 8.0/10. I know that its not the PC version that a lot of you are looking for but it's close. Here is the link.
After reading the review, I think that I might pick it up now. I'm still waiting on the IGN review and others before I buy it or get it from Gamefly. OXM UK Flashpoint Review |

No mention of multiplayer in that review...

Yeah I noticed the same thing. Hopefully someone takes a crack at it and lets us know how it is. Personally from the videos that I've seen and previews, I expect a very classic Ghost Recon feel, with just fewer players. |

4 v 4 with lots of stupid AI. Anyone how been playing tactical shooters more than a month onlien with know that the AI will just be cannon fodder and what we are left with is MP in a 2km by 2km area with 4 v 4. To me that just sounds crap.
The campaign could be good. Co-op seems a waste with the 275m tether. |

Sadly my shrivelled purse is dictating my lack of any purchases right now
I will be adding it to my lovefilm list though to give it a play through at some point |

I could have had it for free but chelle called it first lol. I'll only get it off her if it really sucks.

i think the ai will kill it in multiplayer.
its only online hope will be if they get a content download fast with some non AI options for multiplayer. also announcing it shortly after realease so people will hang on in hope and not scatter. |

Nah I think thats a fair call, afterall she does have to work with you there has to be something in it for her |

It's just going to be another brothers in arms, etc.
The single player is going to be enjoyable for a single playthrough and the online is going to be dreadful and pointless. Who came up with the idea of all these bots, bots are so stupid, especailly when you could have real people instead, there is no excuse. Bargain bin buy at best. |

I'd pick it up for sure if I had the cash. I really couldn't care less about the MP, which is only limited on the consoles anyway. PC is 16v16 human according to their forums.

Why is it 4 times the amount of players on PC as it is on consoles?

Things that make it a no go for me: 8 player M/P. No peek keys (Q/E). No dedicated server, you connect directly to another player's PC.
I'm a PC gamer. Any comments I make that don't specifically state a platform you can bet I'm referring to PC. 3Sqn Forums All the cool LOMAC stuff |

yes i have it but only played single player first 2 missions! Its no run gun most the time your shooting at targets 200m plus about 10mm big on a big tv trying to judge the bullet drop is hard, harder when your target lays down when you start to shoot!
you can get shot and killed with 1 bullet without seeing who shot you , if your shot in the leg it stops you from been able to run ,arm makes harder to aim and you have to bandage your self to stop bleeding to death when hit but when you reach a check point your back to 100% your team AI is good they do what you tell them to do the command controls on 360 seem to takes time to do so you have to make show your well in cover for the more then the basic commands. ITS a hard game that takes no prisoners ! as far as run gun goes call of duty would be 10 on the scale graw 5 and this 1 ! mp is 4v4 with bots or 4 co-op full missions, when you play 4v4 each play command 3 AI bots each just like singleplayer . I will have to play it more to see if i like it at first you die alot its hard going from graw 2 to a game like this ! if you like call of duty don't buy this game ! i think thats why they have not put a demo out to get all the call of duty players to buy it before they have tried it! (update ihave seen a few glitches and alot more been reported on their forums the ps3 vids on you tube show the ps3 to be a poor 360 port with alot less long grass just flat patches and clumps ! most vids posted by codemarsters where xbox and pc ) This message has been edited. I've only had a chance to play through the first couple of missions in solo and co-op mode, and I have to say I'm impressed so far. It really takes me back to the early days of GR. There's nothing remotely linear or run & gun about this game at all. Hardcore mode is as it should be - no HUD at all. If you need to figure out where you are or where you're going, you need to break out your map. And you'd better learn to keep count of how many rounds you have left in your current mag. The only thing I miss so far is leaning.
I'm hoping to get some adversarial multiplayer in this weekend. Their take on siege looks like it could be interesting - it's asymmetric so you have a Marine force with superior weaponry attacking a PLA force with superior numbers and plenty of time to set up defenses. |

I'm playing on normal mode and find it very difficult. The sniping is extremely challenging/frustrating with the bullet drop, and controls for a.i. need time to master.
I've told my buddies from the UK to set a day aside to get fully immersed in these game. It is unbelieveably hard. It took me an hour to finish the first mission. I just bought the strategy guide to help me out in some spots and i have never bought a strategy guide before. This game has a lot of potential but there is quite a bit of learning. I haven't played long enough to make a comparison between the OGR and OFDR (gameplay wise), but the two are very similar so far. I'll stop my whining and get back on the battlefield, so i can get my *** handed to me by the PLA. ** why can't I find any co-op games when I hit refresh, Is anybody having this problem? |

The answer is lag. The maps are so big, and the graphics are so good, and there's just so much being done on the screen for each player that they have to limit it to 4v4. The problem is that even 4v4 is seeing ridiculous lag if the host has anything less than a 1.5mbps upload speed. These maps in multiplayer are 4km x 4km in size at the largest, which the largest ever Ghost Recon map doesn't even come close(very handy when communicating with friends). The only thing I hate so far is the 275m tether in coop, but if forces the team to not go wondering off too far, and when attacking objectives, it gives plenty of room for everyone to split up and surround the enemy, plenty of room for flanking and plenty of room to leave behind a sniper for over watch. I have to say, in my own personal opinion, that is the best console shooter I've ever played. I rank it right above OGR and GRIT which have always been at the top of my list. I only place OFP Like everyone is saying, this game is freaking challenging. Hardcore is the greatest, nothing on the screen, no bright orange checkpoints and objectives on the screen, having to remember how many rounds you've fired, and having to pay attention to direction, also you can bring up a compass just by pressing RB in coop |
