Since its been confirmed that MW2 will have a 3rd person Mode playlist has this excited anyone that is waiting for GR Predator?

http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/103/1038859p1.html

IW has done a very strategic move going for the GRAW/SOCOM market (maybe GOW), there's is definitely alot of people waiting in the winds for another solid 3rd person military shooter, MW2 happens to have a dedicated playlists that caters to this.

anyone surprised of this inclusion and what will this have any impact on GR Predator

im surprised this post was not created earlier

No. There are no server files. And, for the love of God, don't make the next GR a TPS. Or, at the very LEAST, give us the option to play it from the first person perspective.

i was more talking about the console versions(yes i agree about the servers point), also lets not forget that GR has been third person since GR2 which was released about 5 years ago i dont think RS are going to go backwards for the console version for GR:P but the PC version imo will certainly be FPWV as the only preference.

people may forget on this forum but GRAW1/2 (console versions) are very successful titles for its own credit, but i can see RS looking to implement a TPV or FPV option due to how successful MW2 playlists becomes.

The console versions do give you just that option. The host can force the view to be first person or a player can choose it if no view is forced. You can see which camera view is being used on the lobby list which helps people find first person rooms.

Although you still see a few console players getting worked up over OTS and wanting it removed, they usually fail to mention that the real problem is that first person is available but nobody will play it with them.

Infinity Ward have more or less done the same thing as Ubi by providing OTS as a game type. You can choose deathmatch in either view. If MW2 goes the same way as GR did then the vast majority of games will possibly be in the OTS view - at least on console. If that happens then it could spell the end for games that only offer first person. They will have to offer both views to compete.

Will MW2 fill the void? Maybe, but the CoD community is so childish/aggressive that me and my buddies - who all met through GR - usually just stay in party chat on CoD. I find that a bit anti-social and would prefer to talk to the other players, but you just get an ear full - and yes, you friggin owned my bitch ***, yawn. Shame really.

As for Flashpoint multiplayer, the whole point has been missed - the magic of multiplayer is the characters are human and unless CM patch the AI out and add more maps and a map editor then it's not for me. One point here is that the maps on that game almost make the OTS view redundant - most of the time you're on binoculars or scope. All in all it's likely that GRAW 2 will have to continue to fill the void, but MW2 will pass some time.

Ghost Recon - A tactical, slow pace, first person perspective, thinking persons game.

Call of Duty 3-MW2 - A first person, twitch shooter, that involves no tactics unless you count jumping and sprinting.

What do you think? Me, no way. I'll stick with OFP-DR till they show the new Ghost Recon.

Probably both COD:MW2 and OFPDR.

OFPDR needs a lot more content though. Just 2 maps on each game mode is not going to last very long. Wasn't so keen of the AI in MP in the beginning but i'm really starting to like Infiltration(with restricted re-spawns) now. The AI makes a lot sense in that game mode. Many real world tactics work much better this way.

I have no idea what the next GR is going to bring us but if it's anything like GRAW then i'll stick for OFPDR for a very long time, provided Codemasters keeps supporting the game with maps and updates. OFPDR is by far the most tactical game on the console.

I'm struggling with the AI on OFPDR multiplayer to be honest.

Even 1v1 selecting different squads seems to not work for me. Sometimes the cursor gets stuck on one squad, and I can't select another.

It would also help if the game had some kind of strategy save function for each map so you didn't have to repeat the same orders over and over everytime the game starts. You could have a rush/attack strategy, a hold strategy, maybe even a run away and hide strategy LoL.

If the next GR goes back to better ways to order your squad around in SP as the original did, or even incorporates AI squads into multiplayer then the Devs could do a lot worse than play OFPDR and then just improve on it.

okay guys i have played MW2 third person mode and all i can say is... wow! its amazing, it works and functions very well and when you play sabotage mode TPV playlist's it really shines, funny enough its actually turns out to be really tactical.

(plus all the TPV modes are 4v4 only :P)

this will easily be my game of choice through 2010, you really have to give IW there props the controls are so slick and precise it makes me wish that RS will do the same.

sorry to sound like im on the IW band wagon but it just really surprised me how well they implemented TPV.

imo MW2 will effect/grab alot of fans of GRAW/socom without a doubt until the next GR:Predator is released.

Yeah it takes some fiddling around with the controls, it seems they forgot to hire an interface designer. They also seem to have forgotten to beta test the game...

But anyway. This game just died for me. Conmasters decided to ask 400 M$ points for content that should have been in the game from the start. Hell, even then it wouldn't been enough.

And then we finally get a free roam mode, if you like to pay of course. So we can explore the entire island... without a mission or enemy anywhere to be found. That's some infinite facepalming right there. Unbelievable. This game became old after just 3 weeks.

No. Heck, I even doubt the next GR will interest me either unless it gets rid of the hero character mindset that Ubi has had for the last few years.

Not a chance; CoD is a run and gun shooter while GR is much more tactical. That's not to say I don't enjoy CoD, but it's not a replacement for GR, or GRAW for that matter.

They're really different games tbh.

I enjoyed CoD4 a lot but for different reasons than I liked Ghost Recon.

However, Infinity Ward have just got done removing any incentive I might have had to buy CoD6 (while insulting me at the same time!) so I can't see myself buying any of their games again.

No for several reasons: 18 player m/p and no dedicated server software. I'm a PC gamer and that's unacceptable. It doesn't matter if MW2 played exactly like OGR with updated graphics, those two things are a no-no for me.

I'm a PC gamer. Any comments I make that don't specifically state a platform you can bet I'm referring to PC.

modern warfare 2 is a great game and very entertaining but i prefer the tom clancy games to it. all the run and gun in MW2 isnt really my sort. i like to use tactics and use my head instead of just my gun. ghost recon, rainbow six, and splinter cell are better for a person like me who likes tactics and a tad more realism than the next game

No way!

Loved Cod2/4/5 so far SP, will wait for 6 to hit bargain bin though. Wink

Is the perfect game when I have some spare time and need nothing more than a gun and a direction to run.

No need to think, just charge in that dirction and kill lot`s of tangos...

GR1 is still holding me just fine.

GR 2009

Really hope GR4 can satisfy.

i gotta give them props

Im in love with the new third person team tactical playlists, it gives Call of Duty a varied gameplay experience which you dont get with the regualr FPV, i have had some really amazing tactical matches with Mw2 funny enough.

also the vast majority of rooms i have joined in *3rd person team tactical* people are really communicating together which is big change compared to the regualr kill streak junkies found in the classic COD playlists.

im always switching back and forth

What is the gameplay like in the "tactical" playlists? So far I haven't found the willpower to grind my way through enough mindless deathmatch rounds to rank up enough to play that mode.

I just finished the campaign which was pretty typical for a COD game. They made the "cross the invisible line to stop the enemies respawning" thing a whole lot less obvious this time around. I thought the story was pretty good up until the last few missions when it turned back into a cliche-fest. The coop Special Ops missions have mostly been fun so far - I'm a little more than halfway through them.

Anyone hear about "Ghost", the character from MW2, is going to get a seperate game about him? I wonder if Ubisoft has anything to say about Infinity Ward creating a character named "Ghost" and having him wear a mask with a skull on it. It's almost like they are taunting RSE into a battle to see who can create the best game. I hope RSE does IW in on the next Recon.
