Hi Ubisoft,

I have been a long time friend of Ghost Recon. I've been playing it since the first cdrom was cut.

Now however, I am at the point of retiring my xbox and all gaming because of the amount of cheating that takes place.

It has become a discusting venue for relaxation and fun.

I am no ordinary consumer either. I purchase a large number of games each month, brand new games, at that. For xbox and ps3. So I actually purhase a lot of the games twice.

Well those days are coming to an end soon if you cannot do something about the cheats.

As I am sure many more will follow suit if the only way to play the game is to cheat.

Wow, what skill it takes to just run out in the open and kill the other players because you can't be killed.

If you can't do something about the cheating then you won't be getting any of my income stream.

You can hopefully meet your sales quotas from the cheaters. I am sure their pockets are deep enough to buy your products.

Sooner or later you will lose your financial base because of this. Who wants to spend all this money to play games that you cannot win.
Not because you don't bring skill to the game but because all the cheaters rob you of the experience.

Back in the day all we had to worry about were glitches in the game. That was frustrating enough.

Now there are lag switches and turbo controllers and modified XBox's etc...

I probably spend 2 to 3 thousand on games each year. Well you can kiss that good bye if you don't clean up the gaming.

And I make a solemn promise to you. If I am forced out of gaming because you value the cheaters more than good players then I will post religiously on the forums I belong to why gaming is dead and for parents not to waste money on these systems anymore.

The line been drawn and I am fed up.

Id recommend not playing ranked rooms. Player rooms are much more friendly and more importantly fair.

For competitive gaming on GRAW 2 I'd recommend several ladder sites. You will play against organised teams with alot of skill. And if they cheat you can always call in a ref.

agree, with reputable gamming sites you can build a good friends list and there are plenty of fair players that want the same as you
most of these rooms never show up on optimatch because they are constantly full of friends.
ive played thousands of hours since day one and never played in a ranked room on graw

Welcome to life

Cheaters have exsisted since the beginning of time, ever hear of Cain and Abel ?

If you can't play console games without getting upset over some peoples actions, then by all means go ahaead and find a different option, maybe baseball. but then again, you'll never rise to the top their either with all the steroid junkies glitching in their own ways.

Maybe you could race cars, but then again, with all the fines and disqualifications that NASCAR and the other race orgs give out it appears cheating is rampant there also.

It's going to be tough to find anything to do without somebody trying to take advantege of the rules book.

Maybe knitting, I haven't heard too much about cheating going on there.

To threaten a software publisher because some of the people who use their product don't play fairly is ridiculous. I'm sure they won't feel a thing if you decide to quit consoles.

I have found a great group of people that I play with on a daily/weekly basis. Even though GR/GRAW is our favorite series, we are now playing RSV2, which UBI has added a few settings to help minimize cheating, it's not perfect but it does improve the game, I'm sure the next GR installment will be even better. I'm also sure there will be some who exploit whatever weakness there is to "cheat", oh well.

Get a grip man, it is juat a game. If it stresses you out that bad find something else to occupy your time.

Currently a gaming site is the best way, and the forums that run with them. Cheats get exposed by thread post and video. The teams that play on the ladders have reputation scores and comments that the other teams post about them. If your rep goes down you won't get matches.

We're on gamebattles and get 3 nights of siege every week on GRAW 2, and it could be more if we wanted. You get to know the other players and it can be fun playing in player rooms with them on occassions too. You also bump into them in ranked rooms, and it can be kind of interesting fighting on the same side as players you are almost always against.

Having said that, I agree with you that surely more can be done in the software to identify and eliminate cheating. The worst example, the lag switch could be identified because the character hyperjumps on all the other players screens. If we can see it our consoles must be able to detect it - somehow. I'm no game programmer, people, so please don't flame me on this one, but a feedback routine that checks the character's "as displayed speed" could be programmed couldn't it. If all the players boxes detect it then that player gets wounded or killed.

As for the turbo, if the button speed is faster than a set maximum, detect it and do something about it. Preventing the gun from firing for a minute or two whilst it "cools down" would be a great punishment.

Both cheat detecting mechanisms could be host selectable, to cater for those that find them unworkable, or just want to play that way.

For those that find their on line gaming experience is compromised by the cheats, though, not enough is being done at the moment by the gaming companies or microsoft. This thread opens up the debate properly, because it puts the onus on curing cheating back onto the manufacturers where it belongs. Most other posts simply berate the cheaters themselves to stop, but they're not going to. Well done to freakydo for this, let's hope Kimi can give us some ideas of where ubisoft are moving forwards with anti cheat measures.

Welcome to online gaming. What once was just a PC only concern is now a console concern and it will continue to get worse. The only way to avoid cheaters and griefers is to not play online with any platform.
