GRAW, the original. For me was where I made many of the lasting friendships on xbox live that I still maintain today. It was also, in my opinion the 360's first blockbuster at least in the shooter category. I can remember countless nights spent into the wee hours bustin *** on that game. It forced people to use team work and strategy to their fullest capabilities. With the release of GRAW 2, came other advances in the game industry and GRAW for many gamers, myself included lost a little of its appeal. It just wasn't as exciting as the first Gears was at the time. I still tried to play every now and then. But most of my friends had moved on or just got bored w/ it.
I love GRAW. I would like to see this game rebuilt completely from the ground up. Screw it, revolutionize the hell out of it. Sure some die hards might get P.O'ed but hey, if this game is going to indure it must be reinvisioned. Even more so than Splinter Cell if you ask me. I like what their trying to do with Splinter Cell. But GRAW needs it even more so. One example of this it the old aiming and the sluggishness of it. Primary example of this is the following: two players suddenly run right past each other. Both players stop and begin the ever so slow task of doing a complete 180 degree turn...Point being, sensitivity on this game needs to be boosted way up. Graphicly this game needs to be improved by leaps and bounds over all. Despite the game being beautiful for its day. By todays standards GRAW one and two both look like cartoons. Lets see a sprint feature. Face it people, real people , even your fat mother in-law are able to sprint for short distances.....And besides that its generally becoming a standard feature in modern shooters these days. There needs to be as much as I hate to say, some sort of match making system. You guys can still keep the public lobbies. But for those of us who don't enjoy listening to random redneck babble for hours on end. Match making may be the way to go. And who hasn't been kicked for killing the host one too many times. Sound has always been one of my sticking points when it comes to most games. Most games sound work, are sub par at best. The first GRAW had excellent sound work. I mean you could get shot in the head by an opponent and I swear to God, with just a decent surround sound system it felt like that bullet literally impacted your forehead. You could always approaxamate an enemies position by the sound it was great sound work. GRAW 2 however, not so much. I have alot of other opinions on how to improve this game and make it a competitor against games like Modern Warfare 2. But maybe next time. I have to go back to work. You guys have a good one. Most of what you said will probably happen to some degree.
The aiming is slow, but it's like that for a good reason. It think maybe a proximity sense could be added so that the character snaps round a little faster when he's right by someone. Although I have nightmares of yet another FPS with superfast aiming where everyone runs round blasting and throwing grenades before doing the stupid instant kill melee attack and teabagging. The graphics aren't as bad as cartoons, but I guess you said that for emphasis so I'll let it slip. But yes, they will upgrade the graphics, and probably make it closer to SP. Again, the sprint is missing for a good couple of reasons, but I don't think a brief dash now and then could hurt anyone. I hate matchmaking and rank systems with a vengeance. I wouldn't mind if it had one separately, but it would be hard to make both work alongside each other and still have a community. I think a tweaked quick match and lobby system would work better. Just change around a few options and add a contextual joining system. I would elaborate but I have better things to do. Yes the sound is a must. I'm sure Ubisoft would love to be a competitor with MW2, but to be honest I couldn't care less. I have never found CoD to be my cup of tea. If success is what makes a game good then Halo must be TEH BESSST GAEM EVAR!!!1! I'd rather eat glass than play Ghost Halo Duty of War. Actually on second thoughts I probably wouldn't, but you get my point. I just want GR to be a community faithful, mostly realistic, and expansive (i.e. good options, letting you do what the hell you like with YOUR game and not being forced into ranked games with no options, where everyone jumps from side to side with the DEVASTATOR XXX SUPERGUN that people rave about on the forums) game. A middle ground between OGR and GRAW with a few modern touches thrown in would be perfect. Signature Cpt. Mitchell says "I'm a Ghost", as explosions go off all around and he runs over a bridge and fights a tank with an LMG... Yeah, real sneaky, I hardly noticed you were there... |

Well I can say I respectfully agree and disagree with some of your statements. As far as the community thing is concerned, thats great. To a certain exstent I actually know what you mean. Back in the day, I expierienced it first hand. All my old friends. On GRAW. It was fun. For me, I can say, for the most part those days are gone. I've seen some pretty ingenous ideas on new directions for the game(on this forum). And I think its high time to jazz things up is all. I don't want pure chaos like COD. But alot more excitement is all. Better graphics could help. The reason I said what i did about sprint, is GR maps are huge. So mainly it would just help in running out the way of grenades ect. I'm just concerned about the dieing popularity of the franchise, and I think it can be saved. But that's gonna mean changes and old heads usually hate changes.

I mostly agree with you that changes need to be made. I think the game is still doing pretty well, but evolution is a good idea. Most people would like changes, but no one can agree exactly what should be changed.
I actually think most of the things they did in GRAW were good ideas, even if most of the people on here thought they were the work of evil. They were good ideas that not many other games have pulled off. However, they did go slightly over-the-top with them and as such spoilt the balance a little. That said however, GRAW did have a wealth of options that we could do what we liked with, and create our own game which was great. I still think that an evolved GR4 is a better idea than a revolutionised one. A tweaked, perfected, and updated combination of "true" GR and GRAW is best for me, but of course others have their own opinions. Signature Cpt. This is what I think, They should stay with urban warfare mainly with some woodland combat but mostly urban because thats what soldiers are facing now, change to 1st person but let us see our gun, and add a cover system for multiplayer add gun sway and recoil if possible.Bigger maps if possible for bigger engagements at longer ranges making it more realistic, they should also implemet the sprinting system from GRAW2 Single player. Lastly keep the damage system the same and in highest difficulty dont highlight the enemies in red or show friendlies in a blue or green highlight or the place where they are gonna go when you give them the command Go To This message has been edited. I agree for the most part but if matchmaking didn't let us play customised games that would be a really bad move.
