I had a similar issue, I was running a Geforce 8800, and recently bought an ATI 4870 as well to see if it was a video card problem.

This sounds crazy, but your videocard might be overheating by hot air inside your case.

Make sure you have ample cooling and exhaust, I added a 120MM fan for intake on the side of my case.. playing GR:AWF2 I would get random crashes, I turned the fan around to exhaust and problem solved.

I experienced random crashes in other games as well, until I got the hot air out.

Can it be a hardware problem? Look into MEMTEST and check memory. Also, power supply is a major factor in causing a computer to crash when playing games. I couldn't play Deus Ex2, an old-@ss game compared to GRAW, when I setup my GTS 8800 in SLI. the game would just crash when loading. I upped my power supply to a 750 and I can now play the game. You might not have an SLI setup, but that doesn't mean the power supply is not the problem.

This is not a user problem, this is a game design problem. GRAW2 is an un-polished, un-optimized expansion pack shovelware to GRAWI and as such will from time to time choke on itself, no matter what rig you have.
