Idea for a Vastly Improved Control System!!!!!
Since the control system is always the bread and butter of any game... On Multiplayer just replace 'LEAN' with 'Take Cover' (rainbow six config) for LB On single player the current 'assault/recon' toggle on LB should be reassigned to RB so that we have 'LB' free for a rainbow six 'take cover' shoulder button (to mimic the success of rainbow six) while still maintaining the left trigger for the excellent over-the-shoulder zoom. |
if i could come through this screen after you i would.
i wish Vegas would get rid of that tp cover mode junk and give us back the lean. GRAW is already very successfull,it doesnt need to "mimic" another game. |
Just to be nitpicky, GRAW2 = GR7.
The OP forgot GRDS. |
Damn right it's GR7. Doesnt matter what platform they were all on. Ghost Recon is Ghost Recon. GRAW 3 will be GR8.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing at all "Ghost" like about piloting vehicles. In the old days the Ghosts were "...trained in the latest techniques of covert warfare. They striked. Swiftly. Silently. Invisibly..." Now tell me how you are going to do that when you are running around in a tank? Its not Ghost Recon, so it shouldn't be in Ghost Recon. BTW, I am more than sure that the majority Old School GR players(Not people who started with GR2) would agree with me on this as well. This message has been edited. i basically skipped GR2[played it ah little],OGR/GRIT are 2 of my favorite games of all time, both are easily top 5 if not #1-#2. the only vehicles i care to see...should be targets. |

Not only did I find that racist and insensitive but entirely untrue. In the future Americans will be flooding into Canada due to over population, pollution, a downhill economy, the quagmire that is Iraq, and tons of other reasons including global warming and lack of food. This is a fact, in fact it has already begun so think before you post because if you don’t you will just look like a fool, fool. |

Here is a control scheme that might give us the ability to do everything we want without accessing tons of sub-menu's. This is all on the assumption that it will be a first person view ONLY game though. GRAW 1&2 require an extra button to switch cam sides, taking up vital controller real estate. Quick Draw Sidearm {Y} For emergency situations, this would allow the player to quickly draw his pistol, even overriding reloading with his current primary weapon. Holding {Y} in would switch between the players two primary weapons. Toggle Fire Mode / Select Gadget {B} Simply tapping {B} would quickly toggle between the currently equipped weapons fire modes, removing the need for a preferred fire mode option and allowing players to quickly toggle fire modes without accessing sub-menus. Holding {B} in would access the gadgets menu similar to RB6V. While holding {B} a gadgets menu would be displayed like Vegas and then the player would select a gadget using the {D-pad}. Gadgets could include, grenades, smoke, satchel charges, night vision goggles, suppressors, tac-lights and maybe even laser sights. Only four slots though so the player would have to choose wisely. Also I think using four gadgets slots and including weapon mods among them would be a good way of balancing modifications. For example a player could choose a hi-cap mag, acog scope, suppressor and fore grip for his M468. This selection would allow for a nicely modded weapon but at the expense of not being able to carry grenades and other equipment. Hi-cap mags and scope would passively take up the gadget slots. Items like hand thrown grenades would be selected with the {D-pad} and then thrown with the {Right Bumper}. Gadgets like Night vision goggles would just toggle on / off as soon as the d-pad is pressed. On a side note: Attaching a suppressor or switching to semi-auto should also order squad mates to follow suit, basically ordering them into stealth mode or to conserve ammunition. Reload / Check Ammo {X} Pressing this would reload the players current weapon and briefly check the weapons ammunition status. Pressing and Holding {X} would also interact with the environment, like opening doors, pressing switches etc. Also the player would be required to hold {X} to exchange weapons from the ground or from team mates. Cover Mode {Left Bumper} I have placed cover mode on the {Left Bumper} so that the left trigger is free for aiming down the sights. Cover mode would be fully first person, with FPV animations and on-screen weapon positioning. The players TPV character model would still press himself up against the wall, the gamer just wouldn't see that from his perspective. Holding the {Left Bumper} in near cover would put the gamer into cover mode. Pushing the movement stick like in RB6V would slide the player down cover until he gets to the end. Pushing while at the end would lean out. This would be a two stage lean. Partially pushing on the movement stick would cause the FPV actor to lean out. This would be a fast (return fire) type manoeuvre with the player NOT aiming down the weapons sights. Pushing the stick fully would cause the FPV actor to lean out and aim down the weapons sights (or optics). This would take longer but would give the player much increased accuracy. Also just like in RB6V the player should be able to fully rotate his view to see behind him, and also be able to blind fire by pressing the fire button. Another feature that would be handy is if the same bumper button also performed a standard lean when out in the open and not near to cover (similar to GRAW MP). I think this cover system should satisfy everyone while at the same time keeping it intuitive to use and a useful game feature. Context Sensitive Actions {Click Right Analogue Stick} Pressing this button would perform different actions dependent on the characters situation and environment. Clicking this button while moving would cause the player to break into a sprint, lowering his weapon. Holding this button near low walls and railings would allow the player to vault over these obstacles. Clicking while in cover mode would perform a SWAT turn or dive to nearby cover, if available. Clicking while zoomed or aiming down sights would take a breath and steady aim for a few seconds like in GRAW SP. Context Sensitive Orders {A} Context sensitive orders would work similar to GRAW and RB6V. Depending on what the player is targeting, an appropriate order would be displayed, pressing {A} would then order the current fire team to carry out that order. Possible orders could include:- *Move to / Take Cover / Stack up *Revive / Heal Squad Mate *Board Vehicle / Mount Turret *Salvage / Replace Weapon or Ammo *Suppress / Attack Map {Back Button} Toggles the map view on / off. Holding the {back button} in would toggle the HUD (cross-com) on / off This message has been edited. Last edited by: Subsonic7, |

Want to make this much sexier of a game? Implement the usage of DiamondBack Tactical Gear, Tactical Tailor and ditch the Crye stuff.
ACU is fine and all for GRAW2, but SOF teams have expressed their concern, even the grunts dont like it, and a lot are straying from such a horrendous camo. Multicam is extremely good, and Eagle Industries is jumping on the band wagon to continue their development. I noticed that the Lightfighter RAID pack looks like its being used by the medic on GRAW2, not a bad choice, but the Eagle AIII pack would have been a better choice honestly. Stick to the Paraclete RAV! Have the Ghosts use it when they are doign CQB drills, and then let them switch to a SPEARS kit when they are in the woods, RAVs are nice and such, but good for CQB and MOUT operations, not so much for trying to crawl around the woods. GRAW 1 had the Armour Chassis, which is all but dropped and it looks like you guys are going for an assualt vest for GRAW 2, which is perhaps one of the worst picks for gear I can imagine to be used for the SF team thats using crosscom. The Eagle CIRAS would have been a viable rig to use (and consequently reflected the current SOCOM contract, thus making Paraclete angry, yet again....) Just some thoughts. If you like what Im posting, and would like to learn more, I invite you to join in the GRAW/GRAWII clan, Sins and Saints. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/971101742/m/8981007925 |

full controller customization....and sensitivity settings for the analog sticks.
Call me crazy but this should be standard in all 3rd/FPS by now. |

i agree with sas blarney but i would like to add the following.
i think UBI should take a trip to the sand box to see how present day SF types are doing their kits. there will always be a disconnect between future planners in DC and the operators in the field. alot of the stuff that is making it into the GR series is some DC brass pet project. none the less its been a great series, i really would like for Ubi to keep the all the weapons in the game once they are added to the series, we are in the next generation gaming and having 50 plus weapons should not be an issue 20 or so assualt rifles 10-15 LMG 10 sniper rilles 10 grenade luanchers 5 SMGs 5 handguns |

First person view with gun
I own both the pc and the 360 version, although the 3rd person view in the 360 version is kinda nice, i do miss playing it in first person WITH the weapon showing. The pc version and original xbox version got this.. why not add it in as an option atleast? It works great in Vegas, should be awsome in graw.. and you get the "your in the action" feel that you really dont get from a 3rd person perspective. I hope the next GR game has this on the 360. |

I think Subsonic7 had a great idea with the control system. There are a lot of good points being brought up, and most deal with cover and game mechanics.
The game doesn't feel solid anymore. It feels to me that the engine for player control has gotten weak and to make up for it they are doing more with graphics and fancy lighting than creating a solid game. I am torn on the cover system. I really like the new Rainbow Vegas style but....I liked the old GR lean system as well. This series....or at least one with Tom Clancy in the name should go back to being a ghost....special ops stuff. Rescuing prisoners and taking out special targets. Not this taking out an entire army by themselves. Whoever is in charge of the story should be taken out and beaten with an old Hard-back Clancy novel until he gets it. Go back to letting people play through the campaign with friends instead of this junk where we have side missions. I love the multiplayer component of any Ghost game but the last several campaigns have left a rotten feeling with a lot of people and the developers know it. Most people who pick it up will only do so for the multiplayer end of it. Redo the whole Ghost engine. The high dynamic lighting, etc. are nice but over done. Leave the graphics where they are at and focus on the controls and how they feel. I played the GRAW 2 demo and it feels like I am moving a whale through quick-sand and the cover system is ****. Why doesnt the team who is responsible for the campaign go back and play OGR and GRIT to get back on the right trail. The stories doen't even have to take place in the countries. They are a "Ghost team" and they should be called into different places to do different things. The Army and Marines do the everyday killing.....let the Ghosts do the cool stuff like rescue missions, etc. Imagine if you will: You and three buddies are dropped a few clicks away from an abandoned war torn city and there is a "friendly" military officer being held by enemy troops and you have to get to him without alerting troops otherwise you will start a Sh#@ storm. If you go in quiet and take out only the troops you need to put down to get in and out without alerting everyone you get your achievement and pass the level. If you go in Rambo style and take out wave after wave of enemies and the officer is killed you suck! If you go in and start shooting and manage to save the officer it is going to be harder to keep him alive until you extract..... All the levels should be set up this way, with multiple ways in and out (both easy and hard) and leave it up to the players to figure it out. Talk about your replay value! You could end up playing the level with people online and never play it the same way through twice! Get rid of the HUD or at the very least allow the option to go without it. That **** that is going on now just detracts from the game, or the core value of the game....it's just fancy stuff to hide the fact the story and mechanics are weak. Yes the drones may be real and in use and may or may not have a place in special ops everday work but lets go old school and leave the picture in picture out of it this time around. Quiet, sneaky, tense.....these are words left out of the current games... Now it's frustrating, too busy, and the AI is horrible. If you were to fix the core of the game and then improve on graphics you might get some of the old fans back and retain the new ones. First person view only! This is Ghost Recon for crying out loud. Put it in third perspective and you lose all the tension of sticking your head around a corner, or learning to keep your head low! Cusom load-outs like special ops do (like in Rainbow Vegas) with a war room you can set up your team from camo to weapons depending on the mission briefing. So, in a boiled down summary: Good stories or levels that make you think about what you are doing. You should never in a Ghost game be able to just run and gun your way through a level! Better control scheme and engine. Shooting and moving needs to feel better (tighter and responsive). Better game set up from briefing to laod-out to insertion. And for the love of Tom Clancy, get back to the special ops stuff that a whole world wont see on tv as it happens. You think that there wouldn't be tv crews and journalists filming everything these guys did or will do in GRAW and GRAW2? Oh, by the way....where are all the civilians? Hello, there is a battlezone and you are going to tell me that not one civilian got hurt? Put back the reality in Ghost Recon! Don't run, you'll just die tired..... |

Heres my rave about what I'd like GRAW to become.
Let me start by saying, I am an avid fan of the Ghost Recon series and have been since GR1. GRAW was an amazing game, and GRAW 2 looks to be even more amazing both graphically and AI wise. It is common knowledge that any game with Tom Clancy in the title puts a lot of emphasis on realism, but I think the realism in GRAW has predominantly revolved around weapons, technology, and graphics...not so much the "special forces" element. To me the predecessors to GRAW were somewhat more of a realistic portrayal of Special Forces Operations. Whereas GRAW seems to almost depict a small scale conventional force which is heavily reliant on technology, be it for communication, logistical or armored support. A real Spec Ops team, especially a recon team would be operating with little or no support. Also the premise of having just four soldiers take on an a huge rebel army is a bit far fetched. If you only have four men then each have to be heavily armed and even still it would be unlikely that they would take on such elaborate operations. In GRAW 2 you will be able to have a medic who can only be armed with a submachine gun, making him useless in a long range fire fight. Also having a sniper in a four man team is a hinderance. They are not of much use in a suppressing role and in a four man team its important that all team members are heavily armed. I realize including a medic or sniper in the team are tactical considerations in the game. But they are unnecessary and there could be more realistic team dynamics to consider. The concept of GRAW is awesome but I think it could be more realistic and still maintain its action appeal. Here are some ideas that I think could give the game more depth and as well a more realistic image. -Larger Teams. 6-8 team members. You could split them into smaller teams of 2. Eg. Medic and sniper could have a rifleman as support. Each team could be selected with the d-pad just as you would change between the UAV and the your team in GRAW. This would make the game great for ambushes, flanking maneuvers etc. -Customizable Weapons. You would have the ability to customize weapons and select your teams load out specifically to suit the mission requirements. -1st person gun view. Just as in the PC version of GRAW and as in Rainbow 6 vegas. This is great way to simulate the feeling of looking down the barrel and lets you make proper use of your selected optics. -Less reliance on drones. More missions that are "recon" based, where stealth may be necessary. -Added indoor environments with room clearing orders available. -More realistic story line. Something perhaps more covert and believable. There are so many real life stories of Special Operations that could inspire a game plot. -More focus on the Friendly AI. From the demo impressions of GRAW 2 your team mates still seem a bit stupid. Its funny as when they get off the chopper one says "check your zones" but they do it poorly. In one case walking right past an enemy positioned next to a box, not responding until they were shot it the back! I just feel that GRAW has become more of an arcade game than the military simulation it used to be. I think that the game could go back to its roots whilst still remaining action packed. If GRAW 3 were to include some of the changes I mentioned I believe it would be a deeper and more immersing gaming experience, rather than being the opposite. But don't get me wrong, GRAW is f*#king sweet! Looking forward to GRAW 2 and seeing it evolve even further. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mainarm, |

I'd love to see a persistant war mode on the next GR game. Have it replace the ranked rooms. People start by picking the ghosts or whoever the enemy is for the game. They must stay with that side until they quit the room. All map/area victories are tallied up at the end of a 24 hour period to decide which side control what area/map.

Whats up guys
Since the OGR I was hooked, but after GRIT every thing changed too fast. They took too manny things away two fast. So for the next installment I wish to see is two squads alfa and bravo, and at least three or go back to four man teams. Keep the over the shoulder view because I like to see my soldier plus I can see if I'm sticking out behind somthing. Give the FPS what they want too.. the OGR sight back in FPV. But most important let us choose if we want 3 or 1 view. Some one made a good point that fps make you feel like your there in the action. Yes and no at the same time, but I feel more in to it when I can see my soldier move and die plus being able to see if I'm sticking out from behind somthing. And to put this out there only campers rely on that camera view to ambush you like a newbee, but if you were not running but moving like you were trained in Special forces you would cut him down when he jumps out or pokes his little noggen out there. Or better yet here's somthing for Fpv. If we could look down and not only see the ground but our chest, gear(down to how many grenade and mags, and armor too!) camo color plus wich ever foot is leading off. Now when you crawl just implament the same thing from Far Cry. DO THE SMART THING PUT in a cover system for Online. Someone said claymores too, give them back! Same thing about the missions we want STEALTH BLACK OPPS MISSIONS AGAIN!!!! Being Rambo was fun but let get back to the roots again. Plus better down loads Let me purches weapons like an online ingame gun shop. Somthing like you need this many point to use this weapon at a certain rank but they are special bonouse weapons that you need to do somthing very hard to do. Now if you charge them some money like 4 to 5 bucks a weapon they could decide if they want to go and tackle that objective or just put out that cash for that bonous weapon for that rank. And you can have more than one and if you go about it the hard way you get an achievement and extra points to your next weapons unlock. But it is totally separate from rank. Rank should be earned by team work based games. Time in time out of an online match, your steath, stealth kills, supression for the team. Kind of like what ever kit you are playing with you play your part or roll to gain rank. Now that would be good for clans too who realy push for realism. Instead of this run and gun stuff. And in order for this to work your going to have to rework the maps as far as bases, camps with heavy fortified positions search lights that can be maned, machine guns (50 cal) grenades launchers. Now say no one wants to man these important positions and want to camp inside the buildings ok than give the inserting team one bunker buster to put them red or yellow in health. Now they would think and say I cant stay in there because the might bomb it and I dont want to be red on health in a fire fight. Ok they still will not man the viatal positions thats going to protect the base, now when you throw in the points for rank and achievements as to how many kills, and time spent on it it makes them want to man those positions for points. Sniper position should get extra point for doing there job on defense. At night spot light personel should get points for spotting foes. The typ of games should be intell recovery or gather, rescue down personel, servive and evade capture were you have 5 lives 2 granades, 5 smokes and a pistol sinlenced but still powerful. Every one else has just pistols. You move from A to B to call in a chopper, chopper comes and get you at C. The enemy does not now where the landing zone is or where you have to call in to get the bird because it is not marked for them, but if they find it before you,(b radio) they can destroy it and a different one apears some where els for you. Now if the enemy finds the radio after YOU.. they can see where the chopper going to be and they can destroy it or you. Now if they reck the chopper you go back to the same radio and call in a another one at a differnt LZ. Ok now the badguy only has a pistol and one life. Now if you are good at it let the enemy have assaullt weapons. I thank for reading..... SAMOHT78 ON XBOX LIVE. |

I've played every GR with the exception of Desert Strike. I know its far too late for GRaw 2... but there needs to be a LAW in every kit...and the kits need to be customizeable, amount of mags or total weight vs. speed, ghillie suits, customizeable weapons (scope, silencer, bipod, 203 etc.) different types of 203 rounds (white phos, smoke, HE etc) more pistols!, bring back hamburger hill and bunkers map from Summit strike!....map editor (always fun), improve on the class system (e.g. more achievements = improvements in skill or stamina, accuracy etc), NO vehicles!...thats just not the Ghost way...which reminds me, more silenced weapons, more foliage (for us sniper folk), claymores and sensors please...ill think of some other stuff
I agree with that....GRAW has taken away so many of the old school stuff i loved. Granted i do love playin at Nowhere with a buddy holding off a swarm and defending 3 zones with the No capture rule on...and getting a combined 3500 kills in 1 hr (ill take a pic of the stats next time we do it if you like)...never gets old...but seriously...bring back the lean!...the M14!...destructable environments (oh thats fun)...there needs to be an ammo crate next to me at all times in MP please...ahh fix the night vision please....fix the lag...more enemies please (MP comp stomps are still fun to some of us....an engineer class maybe (to set up turrets or fix things or disarm bombs or claymores)
Thats right give us the ghillie suits or let us earn them. Customizing our ghost like Rainbow six would really save this game!! like he said incorprate weight to speed for gear. Once again claymores that are remote but can be destroye by fire. upgrades for my weapons thats you really notice. And redo some maps from OGR AND GRIT PLEASE!!!!!!!
OHH YES
The control system is not loose. If you look closely it gose off of momentum so you cant just wiggle out of bullets being shot at you. So like I said stop running and gunning and the controls (beside layout)play will come together. |
