I would love it if in the new Ghost Recon game; the developers could put in a feature that makes every multi-player's connection bar visible in the lobby.

That features would ones and for all end the debate of bouncing bunnies due to poor connection or cheating.

Of course you'll still have the problem with players having a small sausage lacking skills relying on those turbo-controllers and lag-switches. Roll Eyes

good idea but half the problem is on the hosts side, most people know their dl speed but don,t know it's a blance of upload and download speed that counts when been a host it's alright saying your on 20 Mbit but thats your download your up load might be only less then 500kb, the next game needs to be coded to use less band width or have a serch for local games cutting down ping times. And a clear mesage of what a host can hold on each game type and ping display of all the playes in the room!

A host usually knows their up and down. Mine is a fiber connection and streams 20MB up and down. Any player from my rooms can vouch.

On games that do have connection bars, I will notice that I will have full green and other people may show yellow or red. While on their end, they see themselves as green and everyone else as yellow or red. Then the room will be played with no lag whatsoever... so I think those connection bars are a load of cr@p.

If someone is jumping around it is most likely their connection. If everyone is jumping around then it may be the host or an issue with live in general. If you get hit by 15 pistol rounds in 1.5 seconds and all are center mass by a guy skating around the map... he most likely has a turbo/stand-bye switch.

Clap

I agree 100%. Add a ping bar next to each player (like rainbowsix vegas). Also add "banned from server" to a booted player. So when you boot a player they can't come back over and over each time you boot them (like rainbowsix vegas). That way you splities can't come back AH HA! Googly

But seriously... This is much needed. GRAW 2 has much more LAG than GRAW. So, some changes are much over due. I hear CALL OF DUTY WAW had a patch to stop "rapid fire." Can we get some patches or make this not able to happen on the next GRAW? Also, the LB button is a huge LAG problem that needs a serios patch too.

But yes, there are many people that need to NOT host that try too. If you don't have 1.5 UP. You can't hold 16! So go do a speed test to get your UPLOAD speed before you try hosting. Also, ping rate is even more important. I have 30 DOWN and 8 UP but my ping rate goes from 14-68 depending on the distance. So, Play in a room hosted nearest to you. Lastly "RULE OF THUMB" reboot your modem before you get on-line daily.

Check ping rate and up and down speeds @ speed test dot net

Ping times and bandwidth are very different things. Ping measures the amount of time that it takes for a packet to get from you to somebody else and back. In effect, the further you are from a person the higher the ping is going to be. You could have a 100 megabit connection, but that wouldn't make those packets cross the Internet any faster.

You don't have a single "ping" that can be measured. Your ping time is different to every player. If you're in New York and the other guy is in California, the ping time is probably going to be 100ms or higher - it just takes that long for the packets to travel that far. If the other player is also in New York, you'll likely see times under 20ms to that person. The higher the ping, the longer the lag between when somebody does something (i.e. shoots you) and when it registers on your screen. The "shot" has to travel from the shooters system to the host and then back to you. That's the kind of lag that makes it look like you were killed by somebody after you killed them.

The "ping" that you see on sites like speedtest.net is just the ping between you and the server that you're running the test on. The closer you are to the server, the lower the time will be.

Bandwidth is the amount of data you can send or receive, measured in bits per second. This is the capacity of your connection and has nothing to do with other players. When you're hosting a room, you're constantly sending data to the other players. So yeah you need a lot more bandwidth to host 16 than you do 4. And if you're playing a coop game, you're sending even more data because you're also sending out what the enemy bots are doing.

If the host runs out of bandwidth, the router will start queuing up packets and most likely drop a few. That's the kind of lag that causes the other players to get out of sync and jump around, look like they're moving or firing faster than normal, or to drop out of the game altogether.

Shady If they see themselves as green and everyone else as yellow or red, alarm-bells ain't ringing?

No, because they are all friends of mine with connections of at least 2MB up or greater. So I will say again "...I think those connection bars are a load of cr@p."

I don't get it?
If buncha my buddies or clan buddies want to start up a public room and go for Blind Siege or Team Elimination just for fun, fill out the yellow team with complete strangers.

Wouldn't it be great if we could see the crappy connection bars of bouncing bunnies like Calorific from Scotland, Channel cut from Hong Kong, Lasse Madman from Norway or White Van from England?
Just ask them nicely to leave, instead of ripping your hair off in pure frustration when the buggers almost refuse to die no matter how many rounds you put in them.
Now tell bro how is that a bad thing? Confused

UPLOAD/ DOWNLOAD = PING RATE

A ping rate is the most import thing in gaming. Not an upload speed or a download speed.
So a PING BAR would be an excellent addition to GHOST RECON 4.
