Release Dates and the gaming industry are often at odds, give a title a locked in date and youve started by hampering the development cycle in the rush to release, but announce a title without a release date and you risk frustrating fans and raising questions about whats going go if that date keeps getting pushed back in a quest for quality. Best to start the hype when the game has been in developement a few years and is now close to completion.
Hype and Quality are both important in video games as in all forms of entertainment as they give excitment AND satisfaction when consumed, but more often hype exceeds quality and your left disappointed. There are those rare occasions when quality exceeds hype and youve discovered a hidden gem. Now wonder which one I am alive will be??
its says spring 2009. but then again, we could have another assassin's creed situation. the link won't work, but if you google i am alive game, there is a news article that comes up first.
Ubisoft isn't great with release dates (no offense if any workers are reading this). Some delays from Ubisoft include:
-Haze, delayed 1 year (still turned out terrible)
-GRAW 2, delayed a few months for AC (lost hype and sales due to delay, turned out average-above avg.)
-Far Cry 2
-Tom Clancy's EndWar
-Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway
-Splinter Cell Conviction
-Assassin's Creed PC
Nice track record people, now starting now lets try to step up and either release a game on time, or make a realistic release date or just a speculative one. Q2 2009 isn't too tough to finish a game, but I am expecting the game Q3 of 2009.
